I recently purchased a GS460 with aftermarket 22" wheels.. I love the look but I'm getting some rubbing on turns, especially when in reverse. The tire size is 245/30/22.. I really love the look of these wheels but I don't want to sacrifice the handling of the car. Any suggestions??
No disrespect but usually, its younger guys who do the super stretched, small wheel with aggressive fitment thing.
Personally, I'm not digging your wheel choice and don't think it's the best choice for a GS....but what really matters is that you like it. Keep doing your thing.

Sure you want to hear them?
Well, ditch the 22's. Not only will you have problems but aesthetically, they look too big for the car. Only a lot of time and money will make them look and fit right. Extensive body mods are needed. The right tire choice and drop are mandatory to pulling it off.
Even after all that, people get tired of driving around on wheels that are not meant for the car.
The only Lexus car that would be comfy with 22's is the LS460.
You're probably not going to listen so my next suggestion would be to try a narrower tire. But that could cause other problems depending on the width of the wheel and the road conditions you normally travel.
Others have their own feedback but I say ditch the 22's.

For 2 years, I have been riding on TSW 20x8.5 Snettertons (hyper silver) with 245/30/20 continentals. I have a 2007 GS350 AWD with F-Sport springs. They look great IMO ... are were a pretty good value IMO.
Problem: After 20 months, I have had 3 cracked rims (potholes) and have had 3 additional bubbles found on my tires (always on the inside tire wall, something I discover after the car starts to make repetitive thumping noises.) I also had one spontaneous blowout while pulling out of a parking lot rolling only 5 MPH (I now suspect I had an undetected bubble in that tire too most likely.)
I grew up on the West Coast where the rods are smooth and these issues don't exist. (10 years on lo-pro tires and rims ... never a single issue.) But now I am back in the greater Philly area where the winters are hard and the roads suck!!! This car is my daily driver and I have been living with way too many issues. I went in with eyes wide open thinking I may risk an occasional issue. But this is crazy! My car is in the shop again this week ... more thumping noises. This time they say I have a bubble on my front left tire and a hairline crack on my right rear rim. Damn it!!! This will be my eighth rim and ... I lost count on tires (maybe 10-12???)
Questions ...
1. I really think I need to step up to 245/35/20s. I understand there could be some slight rubbing with my AWD F-Sport springs ... but that's gotta be better than replacing a tire(s) and rim(s) every 3-4 months. Would you guys agree?
2. Does anyone think that this have anything to do with Continentals? The guys at my dealership originally offered me 2 choices for this tire size (Michelins or Continentals.) I went cheap and saved $500 by going with the Conti's. Is there that much difference? Or is my main problem the 30 series and the crappy roads?
3. Is there any sort of tire/wheel insurance I should consider? Is that an option when rolling on these types of aftermarket set ups? Or will most insurers look at these after market set ups and say "your on your own." Any ideas here?
4 Lastly, I understand that TSW are more affordable than some of the other wheels I see on these pages at about ~$300 each for 20x8.5. Would my problems be solved by moving to more expensive Rims like the Vossens or Works? I sure like the photos of these rims but the prices have scared me away. However ... 4 expensive wheels might be cheaper than 8 value priced wheels in the long run.
Any answers/advice/suggestions would be most appreciated.

Try going with 235/35/20. It's less than 3% bigger than stock and should give enough meat to handle some bumps.
2. Does anyone think that this have anything to do with Continentals?
Possibly. But I think driving habit might have to do more with it. You really have to slow down when you see anything out of the ordinary ESPECIALLY pot holes. If you keep cracking those rims you need to get FORGED wheels instead that will certainly take a harder beating compared to cast.
3. Is there any sort of tire/wheel insurance I should consider?
There is. I remember I had one with America's Tire but they were incredibly unhelpful. Since I had cambered wear where only the inside was barely bald. They refused to even flip as well as replace the tires. If you do get them you must be vigilant and not let them get too bald or else they're gonna nitpick about it and not uphold the warranty.

Yes. Like I said before I recommend going with forged wheels. They can take most hits and won't crack or break like cast wheels. Good luck hope this helps!
You immediately already did going with 22's. If you want better handling get 20's and some F-Sport Swaybars and it should be a lot better.
