I would edit dunnojack's post but you did ask "am I a moron"
They don't fold and sadly I don't think any Lexus has fold down seats. Some have a trunk pass through the center armrest. I wish they would let us have this useful feature but then I guess they want us to buy the RX as a 2nd vehicle
well i don't think it's meant for hauling a whole cabinet. but a few times already i just want to put a bigger picture frame or something in the car and i wish the rear seats could fold down
The trunk space in the GS is pretty awful. I could barley fit my friend's golf bag in the trunk. A luxury 4 door car with a trunk too small for a golf bag is pretty ridiculous.
If it moves and is loose, eventually it will rattle. Hence, no fold-down seats.
my old car is over 10 years old with fold down seats. there are no rattles.
and even if it did rattle, it would only be at the latch, which is easy to fix with some foam.

yeah. that is a gripe i have. the inside space is much smaller than you'd think, judging from the size of the exterior.
the 5 series trunk is huge. and the shape of the trunk makes it useful. unlike our trunk, which is eaten up by the wheel wells.
5 series is large, AND has fold down seats

Fold down seats are like convertibles, they need extra structural support elsewhere. The GS's frame is not strong enough as it is, a fold down seat will just cause more handling and rattle problems.
