Default Awd?

Hi guys I have a 2009 GS 350 AWD and was wondering if the car always runs in AWD mode or is there a switch to make if run either on the rear wheels or front wheels.

I am pretty sure that with the GS AWD system it is always on but it is rear biased with a 40/60 power split. There isn't a switch like the new RX where you can change to 2WD.

There is no switch. Usually only 4WD systems have a switch.

Like a proper luxury/sporty car, the GS has a 30/70 RWD bias split during normal driving. When there is slippage detected, the power is transfered as appropriate.

The new RX is always in AWD mode too, the switch is to lock in all 4 wheels. The system in the RX is different from the GS. The RX use an electro-magnetic clutch pak to save weight. The AWD system in the RX only send torque to the rear wheel when accelarating or when the front wheel slips.
