Default What size spacers (20 x 8.5)

As you all know I'm looking to compensate for my small wheel width by adding some spacers. My tires are 245/35 (I was told they were 255 when installed), and I'm wondering if I should go with 5mm spacers or something bigger? What are your experiences or thoughts...Are there any issues with AWD and different size spacers on the front and back?

interested as well.

i cant imagine there would be a problem with different size spacers because you still have the same contact width on the road.

your offset might help.

you can go 20mm. I have 20mm in the rear with the OEM 18x8 rim and I believe the GSpyder is also +40 offset. I am lowered ~ 2" and you can see the pic I posted in my other thread...

i wouldn't go more than 5mm for the front, unless you wanna do some work around the fenders.

OK. I am thinking about 10mm in the rear and 5mm up in the front. Passnu2, do you have a link, not sure which you mean by your other thread.

5 in the front and 15 in the rear

20 and you might be too close to fenders specially you have oversize tires.

personally I wond do any spacer in the front. here is that thread. page 3 and past I belive shows my car and how close it is and I did not touch the fender in that pic.

15mm and 20mm you can get bolt on Ichiba Type II spacers. Hit up Nigel (vendor) and he will take good care of you. I personally like how the 20mm looks on the car but you make the call on what you want. 5mm in the front you should replace the studs with longer ones.

what's the reason why no 5mm in the front?

20mm in the back would be too much. if stock is 8+40 as you mentioned, and with 20mm spacers and you aer that close to the fender tab already, his 8.5+40 will be 6mm more outboard. that'd be disastrous. offsets and widths go hand in hand

^ Correct me if I am wrong I believe my OEM rims are 18x8.8 to be exact. I would have to go check. So if that is the case he is fine as it will be less then mine.

On the fronts IMO (again) I think it looks fine with out and the car will drive better with no spacer. Its preference. You can put 5mm and I am sure you could get away with 10mm if you wanted. Just said IMO thats all....

You can see the pics of my car, there is NO front spacer and a 20mm spacer on the rear.

i think the offset of oem is +45.. considering 6mm outboard, 10mm is the right size for rear without fender work. it makes sense for 15mm if the offset was 40 for the oem.

i don't know what the stock offset is, never looked into it

but i think you got it the other way. the higher the offset, the more inboard the wheels are. 8+45 is more inward than 8+40, meaning you can put a thicker spacer
