Thumbs up Lexus is replacing my Yokohama Advan A10B!!!

Long story short. I ordered my AWD in the summer of 2007. When I ordered the car, I also ordered the 5 spoke 18" rims and tires to have them swapped out before I took delivery (which was not an "option" since the rims/tires are for RWD). Anyways, a year and a half and 19,000 miles later, I started experiencing the road noise. When I first mentioned it to the service manager in January of 2009, he said that those rims/tires were not an option for the AWD and therefore would not be covered by Lexus even though they are "OEM." On top of that, he said that the technician did not experience "significant road noise" when they took it out for a drive.

Well okay I thought maybe there's something wrong with my hearing. But thanks to SLK_DDS and Kevin, I contacted Lexus Customer Satisfaction and was in touch with a Department Specialist. After almost three months, I was finally informed that they will notify my dealership's service department and have them replace all four tires at the cost of two. I do not know what kind of tires they will replace nor do I know if I have a choice of tires but I am happy with the outcome!!!

Anyways that wasn't really short but thanks for reading!

I had a similar issue: My Dunlop runflats were HORRIBLE. Lexus refused to help, which was OK - so I called Dunlop, who replaced the tires at 9500miles with non-runflats, 100% cost coverage - all I paid for was the balancing.

:-)

Do your tires look like this? It turns out these tires are defective and the belts were separated. They prorated the tires. You might want look at your other options to see what turns out to be better for you. Have your tire place take a look. They should not charge you.

I would not have put on another set of Dunlops, or the runflats, even at 50% off.

I have not noticed but I will definitely check at the end of the day today and report back. Mine only have 19,000 miles on them though.

I actually don't know what kind of tires they'll put on but I will keep that in mind. Thanks!

Good to hear that Lexus finally decided to replaced your tires, I think the only reason that you did not get all four tires for free is due to the milage on the Yokohama tires (usually they only last no more than 20,000 mile, so you actually got lucky)!!!

Anyway, I would recommend either Michelin Primacy HP or PS2.

Again congras on getting them replaced, finally!!!

Thanks!

Didn't know they usually only last 20,000 miles?! A quick search on tirerack yields A10F at $335 each?! Ouch...

Anyways, I will either call or stop by later and see what choices I have if I have any and do some research before I take my car in next Monday.

Thanks again for all your help!

I checked my tires and I think due to the low mileage on mine compared to yours, I don't really see any cupping. But thanks though!

**UPDATE**

The dealership just called and they are willing to put on Dunlop SP Sport 5000 run-flats at $1,300 and that is my only choice.

Hmmm...

I don't think it's worth it...

It is very disappointing but I have declined the offer. As Steve (slk_dds) have pointed out, the run-flat Dunlops are around $310 on Tirerack and $1,300 to mount two of them is simply a rip-off. Although that is the price I was quoted at another dealership ($2,400 for four) so... It's a shame that there is another disappointed and dissatisfied Lexus customer.

What a rip off.. You can get 4 PS2s installed for $1600 and those are the best tires going.
Take your car discount tire and see if there is anything they can do for you.
