Tint shop cracked my bumper! bad sensor!
So i just got my 2008 Lexus GS 350 about two weeks ago. I dropped off the car on a Saturday morning at my local car wash to get the windows tinted. I picked up the car the same day after work and left happy until i saw there was a piece of blonde hair on the rear driver side window between the tint and the glass. I decided to take the car back to the car wash on Monday morning and they said they will gladly re-do that window. I then picked up the car after work and everything was good until i started the car and it displayed a message to check rear sonar. I got off the car and checked the back and noticed the passenger side corner of the rear bumper was hit!!!!! right on top of the sensor is a 4in crack going from the sensor up. Also another 2-3 cracks and some clear coat lines. And the back bumper is a little out of place on one of the corners!!!! i demanded to talk to the owner of the car wash and he said no one knows how it happened. He also said he would take full responsibility because he owns a body shop and that he will fix everything for me. that he will have the car ready for me in 4 days. Should i trust him? and let him take the car to his body shop? or hand him the $1400 quote a lexus certified body shop gave me??? and let him pay for the damages. or should i contact my insurance???? what should i do??

$1400 to replace the rear bumper cover and paint it isn't insane for a quality shop and quality work. If you let this guy do it he's going to try and repair the cover and reuse it, or us an aftermarket cover, and its going to look like crap. Insist it be done at your shop.

The $1400 quote includes a new bumper and a new parking assist sensor and everything painted. Parts is like $750 and the rest is labor plus tax. I took it to the Lexus dealer i bought the car from and they told me to take it to that shop. There is a lady from that body shop stationed there and even has her own office. Im afraid if i do let him work on it in his body shop, he's gonna do a ****ty job or even buy aftermarket sensor that can possibly void the premium warranty that i bought with my vehicle. Oh and i asked and the premium warranty i bought doesnt cover the sensor because an outside force made the sensor go bad and it didnt go bad by itself. like wtf!!! should i make a police report later on when i go talk to the car wash owner again if he refuses to get the car fixed at my shop and pay the $1400?
