Default A/C Moldy Smell (Evaporator Cleaner)

I know this topic has been discussed a couple of times. I've done a thorough search on the message boards.

I just recently purchased the DWD2 Evaporator Cleaner from the Toyota Dealership, but does anyone have detailed instructions on how to install the kit and use the cleaner foam? (specifically for the 3rd Gen GS)

If not, can someone post a picture showing me where I'm suppose to drill a hole in the cabin between the evaporator and the fan?

Thanks!
Michael

I'm wanting to clean the evaporator too. I cannot locate the A/C drain. I removed the panel that the water leaks from. I see where the general location of the dripping water. Didn't have a lift to put the car on, so I was using jacks and it's hard to see. Anyone know where the A/C drain is or have a picture of it?

The AC drain is famously located right on top of the transmission right in the center in the hardest to get to spot possible.

just use the spray can that comes with the kit. Turn AC on high for face and feet and just on the "outside" of the windshield where it meets the hood, spray half the can into the driver side air vent and the other half in the passenger side air vent. It will make a big difference just doing that

If you are going to do that wouldn't you want to remove the filter first? If not the spray will just get caught in the filter and never get to the evaporator coil.

Also if you using that method make sure the setting is on fresh air...

I've already done that. It does help, but still doesn't get rid of the smell completely. The noticeable smell is still there afterwards.

Did you remove the filter? The filter is before the evaporator coil so it won't help much if you left the filter in. I use Evapfresh in all my cars and my coils in my house once a year where I can access the evaporator coil...its used the the HVAC industry where they are signs of mildew and/or mold in the evaporator coil area. Its a no rinse foam so you need to spray it directly on the coil and affected area.

I've never changed the filter in this car...just let the dealer do it with regular service....but can you see the evaporator coil when you remove the filter?
