I went to the body shops which got some mad reputation by lots of CL members.
However after the job's done, they can't not give my car back if I don't pay by cash
I didn't even went there 'cause I wasn't ready with cash in such a time.
Isn't this illegal? They didn't even mentioned it from the beginning.
Did you guys had such an exprience?

Wow... I never heard of cash only. I've dealt with places where if you pay cash they won't charge your taxes but for a place who doesn't take credit cards or does not have a credit card machine is rare now a days.
You better get a loan from someone so you can get your car back!!
If they didn't post anything up inside the shop saying " Cash Only " ... than i would talk to the owner of the shop. I think there's only two reason behind this...either workers are trying to pocket the money like Wronglane had said or avoid tax. Talk to the owner first tho...
Problem is that he didn't mention it when he told me the price for the job.
If I knew I should pay cash, I could get better deal, else place.
I went to K&W autobody first time, they gave me better deal and I know they do great job there.
This shop in El Monte may do work right but they just don't make sense when it comes to customer service.
Probably not a scam on you, just a scam on the government. Without credit transactions there is no way of tracking any numbers. Ive run into a few business that run everything "under the table". Anyways, Id get your car back, that would be my priority.
Do you usually buy stuff w/ cash for over 1000? or even 500?
Do you always pay by cash?
If you got no cash, you can not bring your car to shop?
I don't always carry that much cash in my pocket.
It's not the matter of who has cash or not.
It's about the way that shop treats the customer.
"Sorry I forgot to tell you but if you don't bring cash, I can't not give you the @#^%"
Simply, business is business. Those guys are amateur.
