So out of nowhere my car will honk and the lights will flash by itself. This has happened 3 times in the span of 2 days. I keep thinking someone is messing with my car but I went outside and hit it a few times with nothing happening.

Did Lexus design the car to tell us something is wrong?

One day last week, I had smoke coming out of the ac vents. I turned the ac off a few minutes and turned it back on, no smoke, none since. Since dealers have to be able to duplicate the issue, no use taking it in but it really shook me for a minute.

Yea, mine had one honk and one alarm noise go off at the same time. Actually, it just happened about 10 minutes ago.

 

hmm...that is really weird I have never hear of that before, I hope my car does not start doing that.

 

Yeah, that was my reaction.....whoa!
I think I'll change the AC filter but a dirty filter shouldn't cause smoke. A bad odor but not smoke. If it happens again, I'll go straight to the dealer.

 

Did this occur on a warm humid day? If so, that was not smoke you had coming out of the A/C vents but water vapor. If the conditions of temperature and humidity are right you will get condensation coming out of the vents. This should only occur briefly and have a damp odor to it.

 

and you should be able to smell the diff between vapor and smoke....but a car where the horn honks and lights flash by itself? that's haunted. or someone is sitting on your key fob

 

I'm going to China for 3 weeks on Tuesday, guess I'll have to drop the GS off at the dealer after I'm back.
