Default October Pricing Help -- GS350

I'm looking into a new 08 GS350, ideally without NAV. This is a 47,500 MSRP, 42,500 Invoice car. Given the current economy and the 09s coming, where should I start? Are there any manufacture incentives right now?

Also, the dealer also has some 07 certified GS350s, equipped the same with 15,000 to 20,000 miles that were used as service loaners for about a year with an asking of $37,000. Would you steer clear of these, or make an agressive offer?

IMHO, you should start at invoice and work your way down. The dealers should be very motivated to move out '08s when the '09s are prolly already at the port waiting to be del'd. I would target $41,000, that would be invoice minus incentives, every month the 08 sits on the lot will cost the dealer. Good luck

service loaners are abused.

a new gs can be had for 13-15% off now. push for 16% and back off from there.

Off MSRP. If there are no rebates / incentives you are doing well to get the car for invoice. I bought mine in May and was able to play 2 dealers off each other and get the car under holdback (they did have a $750 dealer fee which was their entire profit). Good luck.

Default 13 - 15% Off? I doubt it...

Well, maybe I should clarify. Maybe that's feasible some where outside of Houston. The Lexus dealers here in Houston are still very busy these days. The economy is hitting us, but not as much for those who can afford a Lexus. Also, being an oil town, Houston's economy still strong relatively as compared to the nation.

I have tried my hardest today, and could only mustered 10% off. Sticker was $52,050, and their final price was $46,980. We offered $46k + tint, pin striping, and "exact mat". We've finally gave up, and left the dealer. I then tried another fleet rate website, but their price was even higher. I am trying the other dealers in town next week, but I am not holding my breath since my friend shopped them all when he bought his ES back in August, and found this one to give the best deal.

If you can really get 13 to 15% off, please back it up by giving me the salesman name. I am ready to take delivery immediately.

Regards,
Kevin

Kev,

I seriously suggest you contact Sewell Lexus in Dallas (use their internet price quote form to go through the internet sales). They had the best price back when I was shopping for an 2008 IS350 about 10 months ago ($500 over invoice) which was thousands less than Houston prices.

Of course, I ended up buying a 10 month old used 2007 GS350 and couldn't be happier.

I bought mine in May. I called up Lexus of Orlando (about 90 minutes drive from me). They had one with everything except XM with a 51,590 sticker for 45,056. I wanted XM and my local dealer had one with XM. Since the local dealer has a $700 dealer fee and LofO has no dealer fee but wanted about $700 to install XM, I got my local dealer to sell me my 52,076 GS350 for 45,056 (7,020 discount) plus the $700 dealer fee. The manager even brought out his printout and showed me the price was below holdback. They still made almost $700.

Default Different market areas

I am sure we're in a totally different parts of the country has a lot to do with it. But, being that I am buying at the end of the year, and you bought yours in the middle should have brought me an advantage. But, I will do two things next week, and that is to try the Dallas dealer the other posted suggested, and try my other local dealers.

By the way, their charging me $200 to do the pin striping. Is this a scam? My dad has an 2007, and he thought all GS come with it already. Also, should I get the '09 instead? I am trying to do some research to see what's different about it, but can't find anything yet.

Thanks,
Kevin

US pricing and Canadian prcing is a little different. As far as I know, the GS is selling at around invoice or a tad under right now in the Northeast. Lexus do not flood the market and give deep discount, I think they are shipping less GS already.

your timing and strategy are off.
it's the beginning of the month, so the sales guy is less likely to give you a deal.
you shouldve gone the end of last month.
you could've gotten 10% 9 months ago. you're getting jerked around.

and are you bidding different dealers against each other?
if you're just walking into a dealer and offering a price, you're not gonna get anywhere.

being in an oil rich town or whatever you call it, has nothing to do with price unless every rich consumer in your town is working for the oil industry

Default Houston dealers are not hungry enough

I just heard back from a salesman from another dealer, and he said I should jump at the 10% discount, because he can't even come close.

I think California has better deals on cars. Many times, I hear these outrages deals, and they have always been deals from there. I guess you guys deserve a break since you're already paying so much on other things.

Default Maybe I did get $6700 off

sticker: $52,050
my price: $47,000

But, I am getting tint, pin striping, and exact mats.
Also, I am getting the first 5 Lexus recommended service for free. Does anyone know how much they're worth?

P.S. The third, and final dealer in Houston can't touch it either. They said that I already have a great deal.
