oem ipod interface?
is this part the same for both toyota and lexus?
i saw this on google/ebay

pretty cheap price. $100. Seller claims it's OEM.
will this work for lexus?
is this what it looks like?

Id be careful man. Lexus sells the oem kit for 299. when its to good to be true it probably is... or its stolen lol.

the picture shown is of an ipod kit made by Soundgate.
they have a list of ipod crap for various cars
i'm too cheap to spend more than $100

The Toyota/Lexus ipod interface is made by Alpine and is clearly labeled. That pictured above is an aftermarket variant.

Anybody with the OEM ipod hook up....is the sound dramatically better playing through an ipod compared to a CD?

they're both digital quality. they would sound the same assuming the mp3 was encoded well

The sound is as good as the MP3 quality/bit rate that it was recorded with. As aforementioned, MP3 is compressed audio. CD Audio plays at a higher bitrate than most MP3s. You will get better sound using an ipod interface rather than using a tape deck adapter or an FM modulator.

Sound quality is great and I think it is more clear than the CD!
The interface is a bit hard to use at first but easy once your learn how to control it.
