New to Board
My '08 GS350 AWD is brand new, under a month and under 1K miles. I love it so far and I have found this board both entertaining and helpful. Here are some first impressions:
My GS. An AWD sedan was a must for me, and you can't get them any other way here in the Boston area. It's all stock except for the license plate frames and will probably stay that way, since it's leased (unconditional love for 36 months). That means the 17s and the run-flats will stay for now, but if and when I get a photo up (I know I'm sort of obligated to do that), maybe one of you Florida or SoCal guys can photoshop your fancy shoes onto it so I can dream. The one mod I am set on making is Vaistech iPod integration. This is my first car with XM and iPod through the AUX input, and it's still not enough, is it?
How I Got It. My prior ride was an '05 FX-35. I wasn't floored by the new '09 FX and decided this time around that an AWD sedan would work. The E-series was impressive only for its trunk size, the A6 and 5-series are great cars but don't deliver the same bang for the buck (nor look as good). For me it came down to the M35X or the GS, and the styling, lux interior and the extra HP carried the day over another Infiniti. The deal was good, too.
First Impressions. Still in that "I can't believe I have a car this nice" phase. Wife and kids have found me in garage reading the owners manual at midnight (a must to figure out the electronics). Pros so far: Smooth power that doesn't end, effortless shifts, luxurious wood and leather, quiet, beautiful from every angle, BT/NAV/audio/voice recog. Only negatives are minor quirks - folding mirrors (make automatic?), trunk opener (need fob or dash button), brake dust; or are forced by the design - headroom, B-pillar blind spot. Give the AWD 19-inchers and I'd forgive it all.
This Board. Look forward to learning from CL and giving back as I get. Some of the tips have been indispensible already (adjusting for ML center channel, hidden headrest button, iPod advice). Not going to pull the dash and hack the NAV defaults, but I admire your enthusiasm!

Congrats!
I have mine about 6 weeks.
There is a button on the fob for the trunk.
Your dealer should exchange your brake pads to a less dust pad.
Many of us have had it done without a TSB.
I've been told we in the winter climate areas will have dash rattles in cold weather.
Dealer service knows of this problem and will fix the rattle issue.
The NAV thing really stink.I'm not going to pull the unit out either.

Welcome to CL!
Yeah, dash rattles and dusty break pads seems like common problems with this model. But these problems should not scare you, both can be fixed. I actually spoke to one of the mechanics (not lexus) about dash problems. He said that Lexus used cheap material
which expands at hot weather and contracts at cold (physics 101) lol

In keeping with tradition, I am getting up a picture of the new car. This shows my one non-stock feature to date - the Red Sox Nation plates that were the only up-sell I let the dealer's finance guy push on me (if I had known the jpg would size so large, I'd have gotten better license plate frames 1st)......
