Default is this true ?

I have spoke to 2 dealers, one from NJ and one is in Brooklyn, NY. I told them that I do not want AWD car, I want RWD w/ Navigation + ML. Well, both are telling me that RWD does not come with navigation, if I want navigation I need to get AWD ? What the hell ?

Yep lol. I first called NJ dealer, after he told me that only AWD come w/ nav i told him that I will call him back. I then called another dealer, he told me the same thing. Why ? My only guess is maybe they have to many AWD they need to push ? Im not sure

Well, I dont know if this is true, but this probably explain why I only see AWD GS300/350's here in Brooklyn and its boroughs. I dont think I've ever seen a non AWD GS300/350, but I did see a few 430's and a 460.

The same applies to IS models, I only see IS250's with AWD. If its a non AWD, its a 350.

You actually right, I did notice that as well. But I still refuse to believe that I can't get myself RWD with Navi in New York

Maybe this has to do with dealer stock and regional differences. If you insert the statement "If you are buying from our stock," before the claims that were made, they could be "true."

It could be that in the Northeast, choice of whether or not to get AWD is primarily price driven (vs practical utility), so more generously equipped cars are always going to sell with AWD. RWD then becomes the de facto base model, with AWD as the first considered "option."

If you want a 08 AWD with nav, they have to traded with another dealer outside the Northeast region. You live in NY, why would you not want AWD?

What if other dealers do not have the exterior color + interior that I'm looking for, do you think they can order and then do a trade ?

The reason why I do not want AWD is because of 2 things. AWD models are usually more expensive (i know they go for $2K - $3K more) and Im planing on buying it not leasing. The other reason is, later on I will be buying either coilovers / springs + wheels. And as I understand, aftermarket companies do not make coils/springs for AWD cars.

I got my GS450H with NAV and RWD in Smithtown NY, The car it replaced was an RX400H with NAV and AWD [most if not all had AWD] was leased at the same dealer. I had checked out dealers in TX where I also owned a home for a very short time and all the RX400hs in TX were 2 wheel drive only with NAV.

They can do a trade with dealers other their region, but it will not be cheap. They have to make a deal with dealers that they do not normally trade with and add on the shipping cost. In the end, the RWD might be the same price as the AWD. If you want suspension mods, you are out of luck for the AWD as of now. Thre are companies that are starting to make suspension parts for the AWD GS soon.

I say find the car with the right options you want from a dealer outside of your region. Buy yourself a cheap two way air ticket and drive the car back; just dump the non-used portion. You will save a bundle at the same enjoy a nice bonding and break-in period. The warranty will be covered by the local dealers irrespective of the region of purchase.
