Default Ipod for 2007 GS350

I have read through a lot of post but I haven't come across someone who has successfully found and installed an ipod in the 07 GS 350. I read a post that lexus has a kit but I was wondering does it work for my model and is it any good. If anyone has successfully installed a kit and could shed some light on which kit to buy and how to install it I would greatly appreciate it.

I installed the vaistech video ipod kit in my gs350 navi (no ml) works perfectly except if you want to watch video, you're going to have to use the hand brake. I didn't want to cut any wires to enable the video while driving function.

here are a couple pix of the installation.. sorry for the dusty center console.. :P

I had Lexus kit installed, it was a profeesional install in glove box. The adapter works with touch screen & steering wheel controls. It is warranted thru Lexus since it is their part & labor.

Welcome to CL. I have the Lexus Accessory Ipod interface on my 2007 GS350. Rominl and I did the install ourselves. My ipod connector feeds into the glove box since there's no point in having the ipod in plain view when the controls on the ipod itself are disabled. You operate your ipod through the steering wheel controls and the nav screen.

You can order the Ipod adapter through our two main vendors, Carson Toyota/Lexus Parts or Sewell Lexus Parts.

The part cost me $250 and labor charges was $300 at a Lexus dealer. I did not want to mess up so I had it done by dealer and it is warranted.

i have the vais installed in my GS 300. good sound and text display up to 29 characters on the nav screen which only shows 10 for sat radio (its the sat tuner they install that had the limit of 10, not the screen, but i digress). ok but not great control through the touch screen. some limitations there.

here is another option that i'm thinking about now. it hasn't gotten a lot o attention on forum so far but the demo video shows it's closer to realy on screen ipod emulation. for what it's worth.

i returned my vais because of the annoying 99songs/playlists and songs are only accessible via playlists.
does your lexus installation and scosche have those limitations?

Not to grab this thread, but is there a firmware update they could provide to increase the character length for SAT radio?

Thanks....

not that i know of. it's a function of the sat tuner/display interface. newer tuners display 16 char, older display 10. both the gen4 and gen5 touchscreens have the ability to display more than that.

Vais has a product on their website that claims to expand the old 10 char limit to 16 by swapping out the display interface. that's the only option i have come across.

whats the process for getting that upgrade and any idea why that upgrade wouldn't come preinstalled in what they are selling now? mine didn't.
