Default 3M clear bra

Has anyones bra turned yellow or faded? Or is it naturally like this? Sometimes my bra looks a little tinted yellow, is there any way to prevent this? Ive seen a bunch of lighter colored cars with this also.

I have owned numerous cars with this product and never had any yellowing. Actually the true 3M product is warranted not to yellow, cloud or crack so if it truly is yellowing it should be replaced by your installer. I wasn't able to see what your are reffering to in the pictures (nice car!). I'm not saying it isn't there or anything, I just couldn't see it.

Unfortunately clear bra will show more on a light colored car like white. Both Venture and 3M will yellow a little over time, but 3M films unfortunately are more prone to yellowing. White will show this discoloration the most.

Bottom line is the film is there to protect the car's finish and as long as it doesn't look too bad, then it is a worthwhile product. I have found that maintaining the film just like you would the car's finish helps alot. The film actually has its own 'clear coat' and you can wax it just like you would the rest of the car. 3m does does recommend any abrasives. I like to use Meguiars Tech Wax 2.0 on the film (and usually the whole car) because it makes the film look more seemless, there is no build-up at the film's edges, it wipes off very easily and I believe would help to resist discoloration.

3m website has some additional information:

xpel.com has the best kits available and they are the real deal.. Not aftermarket crap! Although I really really would not recommend installing it on the car yourself -- Get a professional installer to do it for you! It is alot harder than it looks to do it right.. Check around your area for a reputable installer and try to check out other cars that he/she has done. I have found huge differences in install quality/ability from one installer to the next.

Okay, now I am really doing your homework for you... The obvious answer is directly from 3m.. Yes, xpel is a middleman, but one with the best kits with the most complete coverage for AUTOMOBILES! Isn't that what this forum/thread is for? Anyway, here is the link.

I think what you are noticing is that the adhesive is not 100% clear and looks slightly yellow under certain conditions.

Heat it up with a heat gun then peel it off.

Or you can let the engine heat or direct sunlight soften the film to help remove it. I wouldn't use a heat gun, you'll only risk burning the film or even the paint itself if you're not experienced with using one.

Like I said in my previous postings! --- I would highly recommend getting a professional to install or repair/remove the film.. It is not easy to make it look good without messing it (the film) or the car up! Most installers must use a heat gun to work with the material and if you try to pull the film off, especially on a bumper, without properly heating it up you WILL peel the paint/clear coat! The engine heat won't reach the bumper and heat from sitting in the sun really depends on weather.

BTW once you remove the film you can't use it over so who cares if you damage the film.. You have to use new film to replace it anyway.
