Well, I have to tip my hat and say "excellent buy" to both of you. You have my envy and jealously on what I assume are your deal-finding and negotiating skills, because I can't see where they're falling from the sky at those prices.

The KBB trade in at 37K miles is $31,500. At 13K miles (!!!) average retail is $44,000.

I just bought my 06 GS430 about a month ago. I didn't rush and went in with KBB trade-in average as my value baseline and some self-developed notions about the marketplace--thinking I could name my own "fair" price over avg trade-in. My experience with negotiations for this deal disabused my of my ideas about the car market generally. Actually, a friend of mine who's at a Saturn dealership said that while most of the market is hurting, the pre-owned luxury market is doing great.

I decided that I wanted CPO and I liked the CPO special offer Lexus has been running. There were only two 430's worth considering at the five Lexus dealerships in my traveling area. Both had about the same mileage (~40K). I tried hard to play the deals off against each other but the dealerships weren't having it. The car I didn't buy had $41,900 on the window sticker, which I thought was ridiculous considering the KBB avg trade-in topped at $31,000. I realize that number doesn't tell me how much that particular car cost that particular dealership, but it has to be in the ballpark. They had an "Internet Special" of $39,000 and let me walk away when they could have taken my "absolute final" offer of $36,000. That was two-weeks and 4 counter-offers in. We were still $1,900 apart and they were done. I still done understand it--$36,000 or watch me walk, and they chose to stand firm.

I took the other one at $37,000. I guess I can say I beat KBB retail. I got a CPO with detailed service history, 3yr/100,000 Lexus warranty included, and 4.9% for 60mo on the part I financed. I absolutely love the car, but these deals still leave me a bit jealous and scratching my head.

Resurrecting this thread -- and not starting a new one since the new photos didn't really come out all that well. Should have used my tripod. I felt overly confident in my steady hand skills, but I fail

They're stock -- the white balance was adjusted, so that's why they look a little more blue
