Default Upgrading to larger wheels

I am wondering when you all upgraded to larger wheels for your GS, what did you do about the tire sensors? Every set I see on Ebay of factory 18" wheels do not come with the sensors. If you go with 19, 20, 22 inch wheels, do you get a light that comes on and stays on without them? Thanks in advance for any info, first post, bought my 08 today.

Use the search function. I would tell you what to do, but then that would be pointless of the search function. Just type in " tpms "

transfer the sensors to the new set of wheels or buy a second set. you can have 2 sets registered at the same time.

or you can just not worry about it and ignore the warning light.

Congrats on getting the GS and welcome to CL!!!

All of these stock rims you see on eBay are sold that way because the TPMS were transferred to the car's new rims. When you by custom rims, you have to make sure they are "TPMS compatible". That way you dont get the annoying warning light.

Coulnd't you just drill a hole in the new wheels that are not tpms compatible and still work? I was looking at the different sites as well, and saw that the only thing different is the hole where the tpms goes into.

not always. it depends on wheel design, sometimes drilling a hole the tps won't be flat to the wheel

Ahhh.. that makes sense.. Does anyone know why most people prefer profile 35 over 30 on 20" wheels? Is it just because it's meatier to protect the front wheels?

Default Thanks....

Thanks for all the replies, makes sence...I really want to retain a decent ride since I paid nearly $50 grr for this car. Im thinking 20's and a slight lowering might do the trick.

My wife's 06 has them. They work too. Cranked her up one day and the dash was lighting up big time. Put air in the tires and no more lights.
