Quote: just for you, i've decided to play with it on the way home, it takes me 1 second to go back to the regular mode.

it is exactly the way Memasterac described it.
I second that... I was really curious on what this cool "compass mode" so I played with it on the way home as well. There is a button on the lower left corner where you can push to change back to map view as well as saying "map view" on voice command.

Quote: well - moral of the story is - don't select compass mode in nav. I'm sure that I'll figure out a way to get back to the street map view - I'll keep fiddling - but so far the usual commands like 'map' 'map view' 'single map' do nothing - compass view on blank background and no escape. soft buttons available are 'mark' and 'route' - tried them both and still no way to get back to map view.

thanks to all

well crap, some of those map voice commands work just great.......when you are already in map mode. well done, memasterac

OK - thank you everyone for your assistance.

But it ain't over yet . . . before trying the compass mode - when I'm in single map view, which was my default map view before this adventure, in guidance mode the screen would split when indicating a turn, and then once the turn has been completed, revert to full screen single map (which is what I want).

what happens now is - in guidance mode the screen splits when indicating a turn (good), but instead of reverting to full screen single map once the turn has been completed, it remains in split screen intersection mode (bad). I have to manually (vocally) request single map, in order to go out of split screen intersection mode, and this happens every time that a turn is indicated and completed. On the highway, after indicating an exit ramp it reverts to split screen freeway guidance instead of single map, and again I have to manually request single map.

I tried 'intersection mode off' 'freeway guidance off' - no go.

bottom line - how to make the nav default to single map.

any ideas?

Thank you

Have you thought about reading the owners manual for guidance in setting up the Nav system for those things you want??
