Default VSC/Trac on or off?

Just wondering what GS owners like while driving, either VSC/Trac on or off. I personally like it off because I feel like I have more control of the car.

Welcome to CL.

Call me old, but I always drive with it on. I really don't flog my car around hard to have the need to take full control of the car. If that was the case, I would have a smaller more agile car to do that.

Thanks for all the replies, but still, I think it's kind of annoying sometimes when you're making a sharp turn or stopping immediately and all of a sudden the VSC/Trac kicks in and your steering wheels move all by itself.

The steering wheel doesnt move by itself when the VSC kick in, I think it just increase resistance to one side of the steering.

Leave it on. I find it hard to believe that the traction control would kick in that soon if you're just making a sharp turn-in, unless you're really pushing it.

On my 2GS, I leave my VSC on. Losing control on a rwd car with an open differential is not fun.

correct, it doesn't take over control of the steering wheel for you. it brakes and cut power, probably that creates the feel of "moving the steering wheel for you".

unless you like fishtailing on public roads, why turn it off?

I can understand on track...

and thats why I like my AWD... there is always traction to be had.

Humm, I guess the GS dont have that yet. On the new RAV4, the electric steering system actually adds torque to one side of the steering to help the driver to steer in the right direction in a skid, I am not sure if I am too carzy about that:

I think just the fact we can turn it off is a big plus, I been hearing complains about the lack of the VSC button from Toyota / Lexus owners for years.

adding tq but it doesn't turn for you right? that was my point

i don't know about adding tq on the gs350. but i know for gs430/450h, ls460 (not sure about others), there is vgrs (variable gear ratio steering), where if you turn the wheel fast in case of emergency, the steering ratio increases to help you turn "faster". but still, if you don't turn, the car goes straight

Right, it does not turn the wheel for you, that would be a big no no. Reading that article again, it soulds like the GS450h and the 460 has that VSC+ system as part of the VDIM system.

TURN IT OFF!!!!. I dont need it in AZ 99.9999% of the time
finally someone who feels the same about the vsc system. Its threshold is to low and it goes off even before there is any wheel spin. turn it off and punch it into a hard right or left and the car takes off with no wheel spin. It feels likw a performance car. The rear 275/30/20's hold on and dont spin. so why is it lexus set the car up overly sensitive? dont say safety, bec my G35 , Acura Tl, and previous 350z were all very safe on the track and in the rain. I think its a design flaw. At least in my eyes it is.

Also, sometimes when I stop really fast, the steering wheel turns left to right by itself. I don't know what this is, but it's really weird.
