Default Advice on offset for AWD.

I hope someone can enlighten me on the range of offsets that would work on a GS350.

I was looking at a set of wheels that are 19” x 8.5” with a +30 offset.

Would this work be too aggressive and be likely to rub?

for the front it's pretty close (with 245 tires). rear is never a problem unless you go staggered

can anyone tell me what the maximum offset a person should go with a 19" x 8.5" Rim and not rub, based on a 245 tire.

Okay, How about this:

19x8.5 with +33 offset, tires to be 235-40-19 all around (NYC needs more sidewall)

can someone help me with this?

Thanks,

19x8.5 +33 should fit.

Ideally I would prefer +35 thru +38 but you are talkin 2-3mm, so its not terribly different.

Why dont you PM our TireRack representative to get a definitive answer if you are having trouble.

I am probably going with:

front = 19x8.5 +35 (6 cm lip)
rear = 19x8.5 +30 (7.2 cm lip)
245/35/19

The staggered offset, but same size rim (AWD) and tire.

If anyone knows of a reason this wouldn’t work, please let me know ASAP.

Don't mean to thread jack, just thought I should piggy back the same type of offset / wheel fitment question for AWD's and 19" wheels...

front and rear will fit no problem at all. in fact rear is pretty inset

staggered on awd is no problem, as long as you do it right...

Thanks for the reply. Greatly appreciated.

So is my requested setup considered "doing it right"? Technically it's not staggered, it's just a staggered offset, so I should be all good.

1. Do I need to worry about ordering the R-disk for the front wheel (big caliper) or will the standard A-Disk be ok?

Front:
standard - 19x8.5 35(60)
or
R-Disk (big caliper) - 19x8.5 40(38)

I was hoping to go with the bigger lip (standard), but wasn't sure if a GS350 was considered to have big calipers. Work couldn’t give a definitive answer, so I wanted to ask around before purchasing.

2. Should I go with 19x8.5 25(70) in the rear if +30(72) offset is too weak? Or play it safe considering I am going to drop with DF210’s?

I want 0 rubbing if possible.

Is this a given that most people do? I tried searching and there is very little information with regards to disk sizes for front wheels. Most people just post the offset. If I just went on offset, I would have ordered the standard disk knowing that +35 offset in the front will be ok.

Now the only option I have is +40(38) offset for the front. If that's what will work, then I guess I have to do it.

Thanks for your feedback and advice.

i can't speak for everyone here, what they do could be different.

but i have spec a few sets of wheels for the 3gs. i have always spec the front high disk. even mid disk is stretching it already (probably won't fit), not to mention standard disk. as i mentioned in another thread, the stock brake calipers are larger than some aftermarket bbk

Excellent information. Thanks again for clarifying.

I will go with the high disk wheels in the front and feel confident that my setup won’t have issues:

Front = 19 x 8.5 +40(38) – r-disk
Rear = 19 x 8.5 +30(72) – o-disk
Tires = 245/35/19
Springs = DF210’s
