Factory fill since May '06 is 5w-20. Prior to that it was 5w-30. (There's a TSIB on this). The 5 lexus dealers near me still use 5w-30 for oil changes . . .

I'm pretty sure it does. Most newer cars do.

i had the exact same question when i switched from BMW to Lexus. BMW uses Castro Sync.

I've always wondered by Lexus doesn't use synthetic from factory.

^ Japanese cars are engineered to be more maintenance-friendly than their german counterparts. The only Japanese car I can think of that REQUIRES synth oil is the Acura Rdx (due to it's intercooled turbo). Let's not start another Holy War on the virtues of synth vs dino oil, this topic is purely subjective and everyone has an opinion. As for me, I'd rather have the choice rather than have the Mfr tell me what type of oil I must run . . .

No it doesn't as with any production Lexus model. They all use conventional motor oil.

Most Toyota/Lexus engines that have run 100, 200, 300,000 miles and more with no type of overhaul but regular scheduled maintenance have run without the use of synthetics.

True!!!

In 1991 we bought a Toyota truck for our company, till now the only thing we have done to it was oil change and spark plugs replacement.

Now it has over 400,000 miles on it and still running like new!!!

But for my own toys, I only use Mobil 1 on them!!!
