GS Steering wheel
Yeah you will have the red walnut trim. You can always go the kind of the pricey route and swap all the trim pieces to the gray birds eye maple (08+) or the black birds eye maple (06-07). Or you can have your whole steering wheel leather wrapped. It will make it thicker unfortunately.

The diameter of the wheel is smaller so you may have a problem with the wheel blocking your guages at different angles. Toyota/Lexus for the most part has the same airbag connectors, but they are serviced differently for every model. So there is that chance it may connect but not function.
there's been a GS steering wheel on ebay for some time now.. in gray.. i have a black interior and i would've bought it to test fit if it were black leather but the woodgrain is EVERYTHING.
There are a few companies in Japan that have wood steering wheels for the IS that I saw in my copies of VIP Style and VIP CAR. I wish I could read japanese, they have offerings for different wood colors on the IS specifically.
this has been my best solution in comparision to what I was used to, and I haven't been happier. It makes it a ton thicker and easier to grip. (alot sportier) which is what I desired along with the diameter increase. I called about 20 companies all told me I couldn't do the Hartge steering wheel that I was used to (That's a exclusive BMW build and LR)
and every other shop said I would loose all steering wheel functions, which I wasn't about to do, so this was my option.
Some may hate it, some may consider it.
Personally I don't really care but I love it and so do my hands.

to each his own
I have heard that and then the complete opposite.
I have tint that is dark enough that from the outside, all you see if the black steering wheel. You can't tell a difference.
And then on those rare times I drive with somone that mocks the steering wheel cover, I say to them, why do I need to care what you think when you're in my $74K car. I do what works best for me. In your own car do what works best for you. I won't make fun of your stock steering wheel in your $45K car so don't mock mine. Actually that never happens they just say wtf is that, I say why do you care, and we all have a laugh over it.
It's not that I love the way it looks, just the functionality of it as compared to what I was used to in my old 550i. In that car I got the $1,500 or so steering wheel from Hartge that was the fit and feel and size that I was looking for and it had all the stock steering wheel buttons integrated into it.
Lexus just doesn't offer anything that nice or it would have been in within 1 month after purchase.

Steering wheel cover haters.
Below is the one I had in my old 550i. I found this picture online, b/c I didn't have any pics of my own of the steering wheel, but this is what I was going after with feel/size with the cover. My current cover was the closest thing I could find to what I was acustomed to.
