Will miss the GS ... (defecting yet again)
well, i didn't think this day would ever come. i really thought i'd be a GS-lifer after having 3 in a row. but i just couldn't get myself as excited over the GS460. we were interested in the GS450h, but it was looking like special order only (aka not-so-great pricing) for certain color combos and w/ the active suspension. plus lexus financial has really trashed the residual on the hybrid at like 48-49% which is just awful for a car of that caliber.
anyway, our GS is up for sale (classifieds posting here). we replaced it with a mercedes after seeing the winter event deals and geting an amazing price on the E63. we are missing the user-friendliness of the electronics in the GS, but hopefully the new car will treat us as well as the GS has in the past 3 years.
happy new year everyone!

congrats on the new ride, however I would never trade my Lex for a Benz BMW maybe, one of our VP's got a S65 that has been to the shop 6 times in as many months and once it shut down on the 405.
thanks guys
yeah we will be kicking ourselves big time if this car doesn't hold up well over the next 39 mos. luckily the E class is entering the final stage of its current life cycle so i feel better about that. the car feels solid, built like a tank, yet it's ready to go at a nanosecond's notice

What a great purchase! The E63 is an absolute beast. I bet reliability won't be an issue. My wife's '06 E350 has pretty much been rock solid. And it has zero rattles, unlike my GS430.
Enjoy the new ride

Not a fair comparison b/w a GS460/450h and a E63. I wouldn't trade a 3GS for a regular E550, but the E63 is simply a whole different animal. You prolly won't have any reliability issues since the AMGs are hand built, while the body and interior may look like a E class sedan, the drivetrain (engine, tranny, brakes) are all AMG spec'd special builds and not the run of the mill MB crap. Once you go AMG, you may never go back . . .
