Could the LS have gotten reprinted by Maaco or Econo-paint
No it wasnt a repaint or anything. You can even do a search on it, we confirmed years ago that some of the blacks are single stage for Lexus (at least the mid nineties to early 2k timeframe)

Yes you are right, I take it back I believe the blacks are singles. Also on the white Honda accord's. Good thing I didn't purchase my car black because I'm a detail freak and can't stand to see my paint flying right before my eyes.

So a black 2008 GS has a clear coat or not? I posted my age to get the haters mad. I know there's a lot of older GS owners that tend to hate once they see a young buck in a GS. I just wanted to see the type of responses I got. I'm 22, currently a junior in college pursuing a marketing degree. I already own a property in Orlando that is being rented out. I'm working on many establishments that are on the way. So even though I posted my age, you have no idea of my income and I'm pretty sure if you were in my shoes you'd do the same. For some reason I see that many think the GS is an "older" person car, but an article came out that lexus was not happy with their demographics being that it was being pursed by older people such as Cadillac. I see many people my age driving the IS which was a turn off, and I also see people my age driving the 5-series which is a GS competitor. I think either some are intrigued by BMW or don't realize how cheap the GS is for its size and what it brings to the table.

No hating going on, I was just amused and it was said tongue in cheek. If you can afford it, go for it. Unfortunately, you are the exception not the rule. I have a friend who is a officer in the Army, at least every week he'd have to go to the local dealership to work out a better payment plan for one his enlisted because the 18 year old just bought a truck/car that was more than his pay. I'm not not much older than you, less than a decade.

THE RULE

Git this from the web site and the manual says nothing that I can find about clear coat - However, the sales guys will through out that there is clear coat on every Lexus at the drop of the hat. Below is from Lexus FAQ:

What is the Lexus Paint Protection Film?

Genuine Lexus Paint Protection Film is a high-rage colorless urethane film applied to the leading edge areas of the vehicle-the areas that take most of the punishment from sand, insects, stones, and other road debris.

Just call the dealership and ask someone in the service department to confirm or deny...If not and you want one...go get one...

Also, remember Lexus provides some of the best paint jobs out there... My ES is 7 years old and shines like it rolled off the lot yesterday! I wax it a couple times a year and it looks damn good... So hook it up however you want..clear coat, clear bra, or wax and buff...just do it!

I'm young and don't really have that many bills nor have a family to support so I said what the heck? I have a couple of questions. How the hell do I open my trunk? I pressed the button on the key and nothing, as well as the button by the steering wheel. How do I take the seat belt beep off? The first 5,000 miles cover exactly what on the car? I get a free oil change correct? Should I not worry about the finger prints as much on the touch screen? I'm kinda **** lol. Let me know. Thanks. Pics coming soon.
Congrats on your new GS!

Let's answer your questions.

1) The trunk can be opened several ways. The first way is to press the trunk release button on the dash right under the multi function control panel on the left side of the wheel. Now that the button is outside of the pop out panel, it's easier to get to. The 2nd way is to open it via the smart key fob. The last way is to open the trunk from the soft touch release button right above the license plate, just to the center of the license plate lamps.

2) Seatbelt tone can be disabled by LPS (Lexus Personalized Settings) through your lexus dealer at your 1,000 mile check up.

3) The complimentary 5k is an oil change and rotation service.

4) Fingerprints are nothing to worry about on the NAV screen. You can buy a screen protector on ebay or you can contact our own vendor Aerotect (www.aerotect.net) for the low gloss screen protector they have available for the 3GS. It's not a 100% complete way of keeping the finger prints off but it's a good way to protect the screen. Keep a good high quality microfiber towel around to keep the screen clean. No need for liquids or cleaners.
