I'm asking this in the 3g specific forum as lowering the G means tweaking the headlight leveler thing out back. I usually go to The Wheel Supply in Walnut. Anybody actually took their GS there and got their headlight warning fixed there?
I'm looking to get DF210 springs installed.
Please post your install experience and price. I usually get stuff done in SoCal but Norcal is fine. I'm located in San Luis Obispo.
Oh and if where can I get the springs for the cheapest? (Tanabe folks especially)
I just installed some Tanabe DF210s on my 3GS last night. Its pretty simple and straight forward if you have worked on any suspension work yourself before. Took me about 4hrs, but I was doing it basically myself with some supervision of friends, plus I went and ate as well. If I were to do it again, it would be maybe 2hrs.
You should not have to adjust anything with the headlight unless you want it aimed higher. I never came remotely close to the headlights (AFS or adjustment) except when I took off a 10mm bolt for the brake line.
I love the drop on my car, wished the front could be even with the rear but I can live with it. Driving it makes me feel like I am driving a lowered car, on stock height I felt like I was driving an SUV. The ride is a little more harsh but it comes with the territory. My civic was much more harsh and lower but this will do, I'm happy. Currently on stock wheels, but within the next week I should be on wheels.
One last thing to remember when dropping the car. When assembling the rear assembly, just line up where the end of the spring is with the top hat so you don't have to remove it and do it again till the orientation is correct. Lucky for me, my friend did this before so he knew what to do. I should have taken pictures but I had no camera.
Check ebay for the springs. My friend ordered 3 set and we got them for $175 shipped each.
thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, I'm not handy with doing suspension work lol. I'll have to leave it to somebody else!
You say the front sits higher than the rear? By how much? I wonder how it will be once the springs settle...
Its designed to be like that, everyone that I've seen on Tanabe springs are like that. Even on the website it says that the rear is dropped more then the front, I guess its because they are trying to make up for ride comfort. Its not too noticeable, but with me I know its higher because I use to have coilovers on my old civic and they were adjustable, so I adjusted them to be even all around, with springs u cant. I need the springs to settle quickly so I can put my wheels on and do an alignment.
ek9vboi: Where did you go to get your alignment done at, if you had it done at all. Also where in FL?
I haven't gotten it done yet, after I get my rims on I will most likely get the alignment done at Miami Chassis. I've had work done by them before and they fixed everything on my old civic. Its going to be around 300 bucks to do it because they fix everything. I know a regular alignment is around 50-100 bucks, but since the 3GS does not have a camber kit yet they will be doing some stuff in order to get the alignment correctly to factory specs. A few of my friends with 3GS (dropped on DFs and wheels) have told me to get it done with them because they do something that makes it correct. I have no idea, but they fixed it because my friends were going through tires quickly.
looks like you two won't be interested in my Tein Coilovers.. congrats on the pick up guys
lol you told me you had to think about it.... In the meantime I looked at other alternatives. I have no definite deal yet. I'd rather get your coils...just get back at me when you make your mind up
Well I got my DF210's today from JerryPrimo (Good sale!) and I had Albert's team at TWS (the wheel supply, WALNUT, CA) do the install and it's excellent! No AFS issues, all is cherry I love it! I'm getting my wheels Saturday now
