Default Newest Nav Upgrage - Does it work??

A couple of questions to the group:

I have the gen 4 nav and trust the directions about 80% of the time... It very often will ask me to go around a block to a destination or get of the freeway and back on which drives me crazy...

SO I have 2 questions:

1. Does the actual navigation of the newest upgrade perform in a more logical manner???

2. Can I hack the new upgrade and still keep the volume/upper / corner lower corner / upper corner / lower corner shortcut to enter info while driving??

Thanks to all...

1. I've used 7.1 for about 2 months and haven't had any problems but others have. check this out.

2. No. With gen 4 systems (I have one too) burning a hybrid like is discussed on other threads does not work. I was able to do that with v 6 dvd but with 7 there is enough of a diff in the source disk that it doesnt work. People with gen5 systems have been able to do it successfully with v 7.

an option is https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=317601

I've been using this kit for about a week. it gives you in motion input capability of about 35 seconds then the buttons gray out again. if you flip the kit switch off for a few seconds and flip it back on you get another 35 seconds. You keep your 'place' from session to session so you don't have to start over with the input. The module was advertised to give you up to a 5 minute window. I'm not sure whether mine is defective or if that's just the way it works with a gen 4 system and dvd 7. 35 seconds is 35 more seconds than i would have without the kit so i can live with it so long as i am sure my kit isn't defective. still experimenting.

There is also a wire cutting hack that is discussed on other threads https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=317093 that will work and seems to give you several minutes of override capability (ability to input into the nav while in motion). the kit i mention above does about the same thing without cutting wires.
hope this helps.
