Default Question on the spare tire

Haha, stupid question but I have the 18" in 5-spoke rims at the moment and I plan on getting 20's with 235/35/20 and 275/30/20. Will I be able to use the spare still? Or do I need to buy another spare wheel and tire that's 20'?

You can use the same one. Gotta remember the 20s you are putting on, if you go the same route as everyone on board they run 20s with the proper tire size which is as big if not then around the same size as the OEM 18s with tires would be.

you will be fine, the overall diameter of the spare tire (stock) is a bit shorter, so if you use the spare, the car will be tilted. the idea is just like donut. don't run that setup for too long, especially in the rear.

also, make sure you keep the proper # of OEM lugnuts for your spare if you get aftermarket rims (which will require you to get new lugnuts/lock for the new rims).
something most don't think about until you go to put on that spare and then

so so about .75in extra isnt going to make a difference? And question on bobby's statement. I can't use the 20 OEM lugnuts for the new rims? And just to be safe i'll just keep all the OEM lugnuts in the trunk once the rims are on.

it won't matter much if the spare wheel is a temp solution when you are getting the flat fixed. i wouldn't recommend running the spare with your 20s for a month

about the lug nuts, no you can't. lexus stock wheels use a different type of lug nuts that aren't used in most aftermarket wheels. so you can't use the aftermarket lug nuts on your stock wheels. you don't have to keep ALL 20 of them, just keep 5. you only have one spare wheel anyway

most aftermarket rims use "acorn" style seating lug nuts. the lexus oem ones..are different, i just dont know how to explain it.
