Default Trading in 07gs350 for 08

Well I asked. Its was funny. Needless to say he "sorta" gave me 35k (Mind you it was $49k) for my 07 GS350, twards a gs350 '08. Only difference is the navigation. Well, minor stuff, but thats it mainly. He wanted $53k (CLoser to $54k once you add tax and stuff) for the new car. No price reduction, car being so "hot" and new and all.

Glad I spent my money on a home audio system than waiting for that answer. And while I wasn't exspecting something as grand as a swap, I still find it funny how my friend swapped out his 06 IS350 back to the same dealership for about $5k less than he paid for it and bought a LS 07. Unless they figured they could rake him on the MSRP for the LS.

If you've followed most of his comments regarding navi, you would know that the navi in Lexus doesn't have Hawaii maps

The real question is, if you really absolutely wanted navi, why did you buy the car which doesn't have that as an option anyway?!

Ha, but it'd be cool if you're walking around holding up your crackberry as a navigation unit

Yup 1st year is 08. It was for that, the new seats (hoping my back doesnt hurt in it, you gotta do a search a few months back for that post), and side mirrors are the only reason to trade. A few thousand I can understand, but at 17k, I think i'll wait.
Btw, I do have a portable gps. Works ok. As for why did I buy the car? I was looking for the IS350 (yes, nav didn't work in that one either) but when I couldnt fit the baby car seat in the back, he offered the GS350. I should've test drove the Infiniti g35 4dr b4 agreeing. Oh well. The GS350 is a decent car.

So a $14,000 hit in one year? What a rip off.

Which model are you pricing anyway? If you try and build an 08 using a mainland zip code, you start with a base price of $44,150. First and most inexpensive option is $4,185, which includes nav and all the basic stuff yours probably already has. That comes out to only $48,335 + tax. Where does $53,000 come from?

Do they have 08 models there already?

I was told he had a few 08s in stock as of last week.
$14k was a bit much. cars in new condition,no dents or anything. carpet is a bit dirty for drivers side (Don't u just love light colored walking carpet? heh. But nothing out of the ordinary. Except the ashtray bit, but thats in another post.

I tried pricing it and it came out to about $51k with similar options. (nav/dvd/ml/heated seats/etc)
