Default Bluetooth "Seek"

I have two phones setup in my '07 GS350 - one is mine, and one is my wife's. Is there anyway for the system to check for both phones (before failing the connection)? For example, if I drove the car last, and used the bluetooth, then she drives the car, I want it to automatically detect her phone (because mine won't be present), without having to go through 5-6 screens to get to it. I hate it when my wife drives and holds the phone to her ear..

Thanks in advance!

You will need to check your particular phone settings to always pair up as a "trusted" device to the "HANDS FREE" bluetooth system of your GS.

Your car is only capable of finding "one" phone.
If you want your phone to be searched for, select your phone, if you want her phone to be searched for, select her phone.

Which ever was the last phone connected, it will automatically search for that phone next time car is searching. If you don't like this, sorry, that's the capabilities of the GS.

yes i believe it can only search for one phone at a time. it would be cool if it can look for say 2 together, but i think it would be a mess when both you and your wife are in the car with your phones at the same time, which then the system has to have priorities, etc.... (can't think)

Ok, some cars do support so called BT "piconet" - capability of connecting multiple phones at the same time. GS doesnt. I didnt check myself yet, because I'm the one driving the car, but in theory according to the BT profile it should try latest connections (not sure how many, but at least 2) in last registration order...

you can have up to 4 or 6, not sure how many icons I remember seeing, BUT the car will ONLY search for ONE phone, your LAST one and that is all.

It is not capable of searching for more than one phone, and it dodesn't go down the list to find one available.

It searches for the last phone connected, and succesfully connects or doesnt.

It's that simple.

Considering this car has so much technology, I would think something like this would be simple...Have the system search for all phones within range based on a priority...That way if two phones are in the car at the same time, it would choose the first, however, if the first phone is not in the car, then it would automatically select the second phone...or the third, etc. Seems so easy, what am I missing? Is there an easy way to select a different phone without having to go through 5-6 screens?

I do not think this is a limitation of the car, but of the bluetooth standard itself.

i actually want to know (just out of curiosity, not challenging someone) what cars out there allow more than 1 BT device to connect simultaneously? i am not talking about in order device scan, i am talking about multiple phone connections at the same time

Same here, I don't recall any. The limitation is on BT technology, not Lexus.

Acura also does not, it behaves just like Lexus. You *can* pair up to 6 phones, but it will search for the phone last used. The Acura voice prompt is more user friendly, you can simply say 'next phone' and it will seach for the next paired phone. I have yet to find a similar voice prompt for the Lexus . . .

hm, with BT Toyota/lexus accessory kit in europe, it searches for all paired phones? It wont connect more than one, of course, but it will search for multiple phones.

Thats what I want...let the system search until it finds a phone (based on priority), then stop. I don't think this is a limitation of Bluetooth, this is just the programming of the Bluetooth search function of the car.

Perhaps Lexus could alter the interface to show all available devices, or all available trusted devices upon starting up if it detects more than 1 and then let the driver pick which one to connect to...
