Ecstatic. Perfect. Couldn't be happier. Highly recommended. Would buy again.

Pleased. A few things here and there really bother me, but overall pretty good.

Meh. So, so. As bad as it is, it was the best of the lot in this price range.

Disappointed. I can live with it, but I'll be looking to trade or sell soon.

Furious. Worst decision I've ever made with $50k. Not recommended. For sale/already sold.

On another note...I saw someone post something about the cassette player, that it's 2007, meaning it's outdated. Maybe it is but I have a lot of tapes I made that are killer and I still rock them in my ride. As far as I'm concerned Lexus can keep putting cassettes in the cars.
One more thing. I put some fuel injector cleaner in the tank and wow! I felt the difference right off. I have faster acceleration. I'll say it again, it isn't a coupe but I think I'll keep her.

Well, as with many other times, just got back from Houston...didn't find the address. Address I inputted was 1701 Street and directed me to 1651 Street. Many other times, it has done the same thing.
I wouldn't buy it again. My 1 ton Dodge truck nav works better than this!

The X3 has a no-charge automatic option
The X5 does not come with manual (even in the 3.0)
The 5-series has a no-charge automatic option on all variants (although the new 2008 550 has a sweet short throw shifter in the sport package)
Auto is an option in the 3-series and Z4 however.
As pointed out however, while getting stick in the 5-series is cool, your resale drops dramatically since nobody here in the US can drive stick.

manual transmission is STANARD on the x5 3.0, see all of below links

We've had 2 bmw x5 and we could order the 3.0 with manual transmissions, however, we opt for the 4.4i, the auto was standard.
x5/x3 all built in USA anyway, takes a month to deliver after ordering, and x3 can be in manual too.

I am not talking about the current generation (which i think is hideous)

I also clarified that while you can get an X3 with stick, if you want auto, there is no charge.
X3s are not built in the US at this time. They are built in Austria. There is talk of moving production here. An X5 can be had custom ordered in as little as 2 weeks or so. However, any of the BMWs can be had in as little as 6 weeks provided your dealer has a production slot open.

I feel the 5 series is more fun to drive then the GS300 I currently own. Everything from brakes, power, and handling. Maybe I should trade mine in for a GS350 or a GS4?

I am very happy with my GS350 and it has been the best car I have ever owned. My GS was purchased primarily as my long distance car for commuting to and from an office 150 miles from my home. For that purpose, it's the perfect car and it has exceeded all expectations. If it were my only car and my primary daily driver, I would say that it's a great car but I would rather be in a LS460, S550, or S63. Not because they are better, just because the others are a little more luxurious and more powerful. The 6cyl is powerful but the torque of a big V8 can't be beat.

Well, let's see...
small interior... specially the rear seats...
low roof line... hard to see the signal sometimes...
small rear window... rear sunshade doesn't make sense to me...
small trunk... barely fits two golf bags.
rack of power... well, new 460 might be different...
slow response...
loose handling... boat like feel...
thin paint... gets scratches alot.
thin body panel... easily gets door dings... had it fixed 3 times already.
and, etc....
I do like the design... that's why I got it in the first place.
But, wish it rides like BMW. Miss BMW handling... that's all.

Ive only had mine for 2 days, but so far I'm happy. No complaints yet. I like the cushy ride.
As for those who said it's boring, I would agree with you if you're looking for a performance car. I bought it for daily driving in heavy traffic and in the winter time, that's it and it seems like it will work great for me.

We bought our '06 GS430 about 5 weeks ago and overall we're pretty happy with it.
The biggest problem is that the interior lighting really sux at night, even with the spots turned on you can't see squat! Same with the trunk, really enemic.
But, what do you expect for $43,000? ;->
I finally placed a small 9-led flashlight in the overhead glasses storage pocket.
The headroom is lacking, especially when entering and exiting, even with the seat cranked all the way down.
Wifey was seduced by the Matador Red color...yeah I like it too.
Had the glass tinted and added some Azev 5-spoked chromed wheels...it's growing on me.

1. The carbon fiber center tunnel had a rattle - probably because it's light and so rigid. I put a folded piece of paper between the CF and the carpet to put some compression on it and it went away.
2. The cig lighter rattles - no big deal because I don't smoke so I just pulled it out and put it in the glovebox.
3. The rear brakes were squealing BADLY. Although the car has disc brakes, there is a rear drum for the e-brake. It sounded like a city bus! They removed the pads and scuffed the rotors and it has been silent since.
4. The driver side view mirror is a self dimming mirror and it had a couple of cloudy spots so they ordered a new one for me.
Overall, it's an amazing car and I am thrilled to have it in the garage.
