Wow, I would not have guessed that! I saw a brochure for the LS600h when I picked up my car and it showed full leather dash as standard equipment.

Here is a shot of the full leather in my cab.

Here is a shot of the leather dash in my GL.

Here is my GS when I was chasing down a BMW test mule in the desert. This was taken a few months ago and I believe it was the X5 4.8is testing prior to it's release. IMO, the texture is cheesy because it looks like a bumpy piece of plastic. Small complaint on an otherwise perfect car.

Don't mind the video image, it was there for my passenger.....

ahhh the GL Premier Edition. My favorite GL. Just too bad it didn't get the rear view camera.

What really sucks is that the new GL550 just came out and it has the chrome roof racks and running boards that were ONLY available on the Premier Edition! It also has the backup camera.....

Yep. Even the new 30K Caddy CTS comes with a full leather dash....standard!!

I think leather dashboards look very nice. Not so sure how they hold up overtime, but they look slick when fairly new.

Thats ok, the 550 still doesnt have nappa leather or that matte wood which make the PE awesome and unique.

You know your PEs! I ended up paying $3k over MSRP to get it but I didn't feel too bad because I heard the owner of Norm Reeves Honda paid $5k over the same week at the same dealership!

Wow, I stand corrected, never realized leather dashes were that 'common' in luxo vehicles. I guess when you smash your face into the dash during a roll-over, want to smash it into the best material, if the airbag doesn't get in the way. Are those leather too?

Haha... I think that would actually do a lot of damage to your face. the material is too dense and wouldn't deflate as quickly. You'd be better off being punched multiple times by a super heavy-weight professional boxer.

Hey Robert, I'm confused about one thing I saw in your pictures.....

what's that hidious thing, that's kinda squiggly, and hanging from your V1?

time to hard wire.

But on a side note, nice cargo pants and nice leather dash.

Yeah, the GL and the ES are the only 2 cars that are not hardwired. At least you don't see a squiggly thing in the cab or the GS, the V1s are mounted just to the left of the rear view mirror on both cars.
