Thumbs up OK With Factory Pads

We're OK with the factory pads too. I would rather have the best possible braking performance and no noise issues. We wash the car weekly and the brake dust is pretty minimal compared to our BMW and these wheels are SO much easier to clean. For me, if it's not broken-Don't fix it.

I had my dustless breaks for 3k miles already. Probably first couple of hundred miles I felt pressing break pedal a little bit harder than usual. Than it went back to the way it was before. Trust me, you will not be sacrificing any performance or safety. Just think about it, do you think a company that requires you to hit "I agree" and disabling use of NAV dest changes while you are driving will allow compromising their reputation by making your car unsafe?

Seriously, at 1,800 miles... The difference should be minimal. However, if you have 10,000 miles then get the new pads? The service department is NOT going to resurface or do anything to do the rotors which means with the brand new pads in, you'll probably only have 70-80% of contact surface compared to the original pads and therefore, you will notice a decrease in stopping power (having to push deeper to achieve the same feel in braking). However, after 5,000 miles of driving on the new pads, they should have set in and once again, 100% contact and should perform the same. If there's any different it'd be negligible.

Thanks all. Two front pads tomorrow and also the service manager will get back to me (he said he needs to call the corporate ) on changing the Yokohama tires.

Really?

If I have no pedal pulsation, I put in new pads and go on my way. Why cut good metal and shorten the lifespan of the rotor? If the rotor is true, there is no pedal pulsation, and there are no grooves in the rotor, there exists no reason to cut them.

I usually get three sets of pads before I have to replace rotors do to thickness limitation.

Been doing it that way for 30 years...

Default Update

Got my cars back last night while enjoying the RX400h as a loaner for the past two days...

1. The front break pads are changed with the low dust. The rotors are left untouched according to the service manager. (current ODO: 4250)

2. Got Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, set of four. It's quiet as my initial impression, like the Yoko's when they were brand new. I'll give 4~5K miles to judge if the quietness holds up. No realignment done according to the service manager.
