Default How do you launch the 350?

If you were at a stop light and some one wanted to race you, how would you launch the car?

shouldn't have a problem against M35?

I'd power brake at maybe 1500rpm?

Hmmm so ...

Hit power button, turn off traction control and keep it in plain ole' drive? Nobody does it in S mode?

Keeps it from shifting until it reaches a higher RPM. Try it out!

Hold the TRAC button down until both TRAC and VSC light are on. That will turn off TRAC/VSC simultaneously.

I've always wondered..So if I place my car into "Sport" mode this alters the shift timings as mentioned above. The assumption here is that this improves my 0-60 time? The marketed 0-60 time of the GS350 is 5.7 seconds. I am getting this time was measured in the "Sport" mode so in the regular mode (I think it's "ETC"), it might be a little slower?

The ECT PWR/SNOW button changes the characteristics of your tranny shifts from normal to an altered shift pattern. ECT PWR mode allows the tranny's ECU to give more response to pedal position and responsive transmission shifting.

Putting the car in ECT PWR does not help improve your 0-60 times. All it does is allow for a more responsive throttle feel and downshift/upshift quickness. It helps hold each gear longer in full throttle acceleration.

ECT Snow mode allows the tranny to shift accordingly in slippery conditions. It ultimately retards throttle response and and locks out 1st gear. Starting in 2nd gear allows for more torque to be applied to the rear wheels helping reduce wheel spin in those conditions. Works well in really heavy downpour situations.

Thanks for the clarification, flipside. That's a very clear and concise explanation.

since I don't have your specific model I can't be 100% similar, BUT the way I launch....

Is....I put my car in to MAINTANCE MODE, done by the pedal dance same as the prius.....

THEN I floor the car.... IN MY car it restricts how high the engine will spool, and I don't have a RPM, only a kW gauge, but the kW goes up slightly and I hear the engine spooling to max performance range...

This way, when I release the break, the car is slready spooled up, and just takes off, rather to not power break and then have the car have to spool up after....

This "launch type feeling" results in a jerky quick acceleration, with no shifting....

I am not sure about your car exactly, but I would have no problem beating a M35.

Turn the traction off, Power Button On, and make sure you flip the NOS switch too. THEN JUST STOMP ON IT.

I'd let the fool waste his gas and possibly get a ticket. I'll punch it on the freeway.
