My GS350 Monster Aux Audio Thing
A while back we were posting about the lack of a Aux audio input in the GS350, some one recommended a Cassette Adapter sounded like a good idea, so I asked if they still make those things. No one responded. Well, yes they do, picked one up by “Monster” at Best Buy for about 19 bucks works really good slips right into the cassette slot with no problems and now I’ll be able to use my I-Pod. Sounds good too
Anyway...Yeah, cassette adapter works fine. I found one at home from many years ago (one of those for in-car discman cd players), and tried it with my regular mp3 player. The sound is as good as the output of mp3 player with crappy D/A converter and miserable signal-to-noise ratio LOL!!! I'm sure iPod has a cleaner signal output. Just need to play around with a volume of your mp3 player in relationship to a volume of the car stereo to find a perfect setting where you have less noise hissing or distortion.
Yeah, that caught me by surprise. Seeing that G35 pic in his sig file and suddenly "GS350 current ride". Don't know why he kept it quiet in ES forum
Anyway...

The other good thing with the Cassette Adapter is our cars allow for the wire & plug coming out of the cassette easy access out of the tape player with no tape door contact, good design.

Slick suggestion, Rob. I think I might have to do this. I enjoy listening to my IPOD in my car with the adapter, however I hate the fact that the wires are visible all over the center console. It just doesn't look clean
I got the Vaistech SLS in Dec but before that I used a Sirius receiver with cassette adapter. To be perfectly honest, the cassette adapter sounded just as good as the Vaistech unit. I ran the wire under the wood and into the armrest. I also used the 12v power output in the glovebox to power the Sirius unit. Here are some shots.

2thfixr, I am trying to do something similar with my Sirius Stiletto. Can you tell me where the 12v supply in the glovebox is? I'm thinking of tapping into the cig lighter, but maybe glovebox is better.
Also, did you happen to use the Sharkfin antenna or standard Sirius antenna?

I use the same monster cable cassette. Word of warning, not all are created the same. Mine is great. I bought 3 more so I could my ipod in my other car. All 3 produced WAY more hiss. And one kept auto reversing. So as of now, I have to move that one cassette to each car I go into. But at least its clean sounding.
So, having never had a GS before my '08, is the '08 the first time Lexus has put the AUX jack for iPod in the center console? If so, cool. I use mine all the time and it's nice because only a short piece of cable shows coming out to the device sitting on the console. It would be nice to be able to control it from the ML sound system, but I'm happy with it as is.
