Default GS Tailpipe Observation

Has anyone ever noticed that most 3GS owners on the road have dull-looking tailpipes? Sometimes they're so dirty that they're just black. This is one reason why I'd rather wash my own car. Carwashes don't usually pay attention to those details.

This is a interesting thread, yes my 3gs tailpipe tips are black with what looks like carbon deposit. This Friday I'm planning to go to my service center and find out if the engine is running to rich and is there any adjustments that can be made. Has anyone heard of a fix for this??

This car seems to run a little rich... all 3GS I have seen do this anyway, so just my observation w/r/t tailpipe carbon deposits.... I use some Eagle-1 wadding cloth to keep my Tanabe tips shiny like new.... should be able to find this at any Auto* parts place in your city....

mine look like a mirror. I clean mine each time I wash the car. No problems here.

just basic soap and water. I also put a light coat of wax when I wax the car.
Works well.

They do get dirtier sooner than any other car I've had. However, I think people just forget to clean them. I used to go to a car wash, but I realized they don't clean my tailpipes (and other things) well. It really is as simple as running the sponge over each pipe and drying them.
