so bc rims are 22's they are not the same quality of rims. so are u telling me the smaller the rims the better the quality.

Obviously not. There are great quality 22"s, they just cost an arm and a leg.

If you set a budget, to stay within the budget, one could increase the rim size, however the rims probably aren't as well made as a set of 19"s at the same price. Get it?

 

Has anybody tried putting IS wheels on their GS? We are thinking about buying a 350GS and we don't want to lower the car. We would prefer to stick with OEM wheels also. I was thinking the 8.5" wheels with the 255 tire would look better on the ear of the GS. If that won't work we will probably just have the stock GS 18's chromed or maybe try the buy a set of 450H factory wheels. Does anybody know the part number and price for those?

 

Which IS wheels? The standard 5 double spoke 18"s that come on the IS350 or the 18" ISP Mode 15-spoke wheels?

Either way, I'd suggest staying with 245/40/18's and not 255. With 255 width, a 40 series would give you 1.2% error and 45 series would be 5.1% error.

 

I was looking at the ISP Mode wheels-I guess you are telling me that won't work. The GS just looks like it should have a little wider rear tire to me. What exactly is TTL anyway? Is it like Toyota's performance accessory division? They have a 19x8" wheel that's suppose to work on the GS. What size tire would be best on them?

 

ISP Mode wheels will work, you can put 245's on the 18 x 8.5.

I almost put the ISP Modes on my GS actually.

You can get all 4 of the same width or do a staggered setup if you wish. I'd suggest maintain stock overall circumference.

As for 19"s, I'm not sure what most people are running but 255/30/19 would work great.

 

How about stagering with the ISP wheels using the stock 245-40-18 size in the front with 275-35-18's in the rear? The diameter is very close-.1"difference. Has anybody tried that?

that's VERY wide on a narrow wheel. you might be able to get it on the wheel but it might not be too safe. why run such a wide tire on a narrow wheel? cost? availability of the wheel?

 

Just trying to stick with a factory Lexus wheels and have a staggered set up. Looks like that won't be possible to do while keeping the overall diameter close to stock. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

 

Do you need 275's?

 

Just thinking a staggered set up would look really nice. It looks good on the IS. Some BMW/Mercedes models do that as well. I see some GS owners have done it with after market wheels and I was trying to figure out if it was possible with factory Lexus wheels.(18x8"F/18x8.5"R) Looks like nobody has done that because it's really not possible to do it right.

 

Well, 18x8"F/18x8.5"R is a staggered setup.

As far as 275 on an 8.5" wheel, I don't think you'd have a problem though. There would be more tire wall, but it'd help protect the wheel.

I've put 225 on a 6" wide wheel before and had no problem with it whatsoever.

 

275 on 8.5" wide rims...it'll fit on but performance might be compromised...i wouldn't do it...

If you want staggered setup , don't cut corners and just take the plunge and get aftermarket wheels...you're not going to notice the staggered difference without the front being significant different thatn the rear...the is250/350 is staggered but you wouldnt notice unless someone mentioned it....

if you try to run staggered with 275 on stock wheels...it'll look like you're driving with a donut, with the alot of tire bulging from the face of the rim...

these days you can get a nice 19 or even 20's with tired from 2000-2800...or wait for a good deal from other cl members....
