Navigation find address function
Hey all,
My GS is the first Lexus/Toyota product I've ever owned so the NAV function is new to me. I've owned a Garmin GPS and found it to be very easy to use. One thing that drives me crazy on my GS NAV unit (and maybe I'm doing something wrong) is when I go to find an address, it usually can't find it unless I know the CITY the address is suppose to be in. And that can be very frustrating here in metro Kansas City where the city itself stradles a state line with Kansas on one side and Missouri on the other.
So here's, my question. What's the easiest way to find an address when you don't know the city it's in?
My Garmin device is great. It gives me the option to search addresses in an entire state (at least it does here in KS, not sure if it would do the same in CA where there are gobs more data points), and as I enter the letters in the street name, it shows me a list of street names that match the letters as I enter them. As soon as the one I want appears, I select it and it presents me with the addresses that are closest to the physical location of my car. Takes all the guess work out of it.
Thanks for the help.

Only problem is if you speak with an accent, navi won't recognize. Every time I try it it will come back with "lowering temperature to 65 degress".
I stopped arguing with it after the time I was parked next to an elderly couple while I was awating for my wife. With the windows down, I got a bit loud and finally yelled..."damned it, I said I am hungry!!!" I then noticed both of them staring at me and looking at each other puzzled.
They probably thought I was nuts, yelling and arguing with myself!
Again, Garmin handles it the right way, my GS NAV usually leaves me frustrated.
Anyone else got any ideas?
Thanks
I feel your pain. Our GS 300 was our first Toyota Nav and the interface is horrible. It took us forever to find the cancel function for the NAV. can't imagine why it's in the menu area and not the DEST area.
I don't there is a shortcut around when you don't know the city.

Or, you can "say" "I'm hungry" and it will show all the restaurants in that area. You can then norrow it down to "Italian" and it will show the Italian restaurants, or whatever you want.
