Default Spare tire for GS300

I've been trying to buy a spare for my 06 GS for two years. My runflats are getting thin and I won't be using runflats ever again. My dealer tells me a spare is unavailable. But I know some CL members are able to buy them. I've contacted Lexus Customer Service and below is their reply. Does anyone know where I can buy a spare tire and wheel without buying the whole kit. My car came with the jack and all the necessary tools.

Reply from Customer Service:

I spoke with Monty Heim, the Service Manager and Jim Davis, the Parts Manager at Lexus of Louisville. Unfortunately, a spare tire conversion kit is not available at this time. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. However, the dealership would like to assist you with a customized spare tire conversion kit, should you be interested. Lexus of Louisville has advised me the estimated cost of the installation of this custom kit would be $550. If you have additional questions regarding the components of this installation, please contact Jim Davis at Lexus of Louisville. That number is 877.512.6633. He would be happy to answer any questions you might have and further assist you.

If you require further assistance for any other concerns, please respond to this e-mail, or contact Lexus Customer Satisfaction at 1-800-255-3987, Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Pacific Time.

Sincerely,

Stefanie N. Oda

You can get a spare tire for the 2006 GS. Some of the early ones didn't have one, but the later ones did. These are the temporary (donut) spares. There is no full size for the GS. Would love to know what this custom kit is for $550.
The only things you need to order are the:

1. Ugly yellow steel wheel (rim)...42611-30A60
2. Tire 155/70/17
3. Valve stem
4. Spare tire hold down bolt........51931-50030
5. Styrofoam guard for the wheel well....64775-30040
6. Three protector pads for well......64768-30020 (x3)

Good luck.

I talked to the parts manager and he told me that he estimated the $550 high to make sure didn't quote it to low. He said a spare kit for the GS isn't available yet but the wheel would be $133 and the tire, he price the SC spare to get a similar cost, is $180 and the hold down bracket is $14.25.

Thanks for the info, are the numbers you gave Lexus part #?

Can someone tell me if the yellow steel wheel - spare tire size 155/70/17 is used for both 17” and 18” factory wheels on the 07 GS350? The reason I ask is my GS came with dealer installed 20” rim and I wanted to make sure I have the correct spare tire which is the 17” temp tire. My MSRP window sticker shows an upgrade to 18” summer tire with spare. Are all GS350 spare tire the 17” one.

My 06 GS AWD came with a doughnut, and so did my mother's 06 GS. Are you sure that you do not have one too?

Mine came with the spare doughnut, but only after I requested it from the dealer when I ordered the car. Otherwise, it would not have had a spare.

I finally received my donut spare from Lexus parts department. Here's what it cost me.

wheel $127.13
hold down bolt $14.25
spare wheel guard $54.60
3- jack cover stoppers $31.80
tire $180.00 = $432.25 inc tax

I feel like I was ripped off but I had to have it.

Thanks for everyones input and a special thanks to 'gwong' for providing the part numbers which Lexus parts dept. couldn't get.

Now, can anyone tell me where the spare wheel guard and 3 jack cover stoppers go? They have an adhesive pad on them to be stuck somewhere.

The stoppers are a 2x2 inch rubber pad. The wheel guard is a hard Styrofoam block about 5x7 inches and 3 inches high. A pic would be great!

Has anyone replaced the doughnut for a full size spare? Will it fit back there in the spare compartment?

What other cars uses the same spare as the GS? I am going to be searching junk yards and would like to expand my if other cars use the same spare.
I have RWD, so it’s not as finicky as the AWD for spares.
