I have searched the forum, but was unable to find an answer.
How far can someone travel in car without having the keyfob on them? Is there some feature that after traveling so far the car shuts down or something.
The other day I ran into the cleaners and left the car running, this got me to thinking about my question. What would have happened if someone drove off with it. If the driver turned car off, I would assume they could not get it started again without the fob, but would the car shut down on its own after not detecting a key.
Correct, if somone drove off with your car, it would be gone.....
The person couldn't restart the car after having turned it off if the key isn't in range.
I am sure there is a way to break it, it is a 128 bit encrypted. But anything is possible.
Point taken from this, don't leave your car running, unless you lock the doors. (obviously with the unlocker....key fob in your pocket.
I don't think it's even possible to lock the car with the engine on. Well... I don't know... Could be possible with different choices of LPS? I know that I can't do it on my car.

No you can't. I drive ES350 but I assume the keyless system is the same. I have a baby girl and my wife usually sits in the rear seat with her. There are quite a few times when I needed to get off the car (grab a cup of coffee or something) leaving them both inside. If the car was running, there's no way I could lock it from outside, using either the button on door handle or the key fob. Being in the rear seat, my wife had no access to the door lock control so she couldn't lock the doors from the inside either. This is one situation I found that's a little bit incovenient.
