I test drove the GS350AWD. Loved everything about the car except the ride was too soft. Nose dive on braking and body roll in turns was more than my liking.
I also tested the G35X recently and while handling is vastly better than the GS, the ride is unrefined and harsh. Engine and exhaust note are not appealing, and throttle is a bit more laggy when you stomp it. And of course, the car I had with the steel interior didn't feel luxury.
So what is baby bear going to try next? S4? A6 4.2? Aftermarket wheels and suspension on the GS? Wait for the GS460 and screw the AWD?
I was soooo hoping to like either the G35X or the GS...sort of sad now
I actually just came back from a test drive of the '07 G35x with my girl and we both loved it. Handling and acceleration are great, as well as the much improved interior. Much more luxurious than the '06 and the dash lighting has vastly improved. No more ugly orange colors. It just might be my girl's next car. As for the GS350 AWD, I agree that the suspension is a lot softer, much more so than the G35x, but it's supposed to be more luxurious and offer a more comfortable ride. Can't go wrong with either.
I left Infiniti for Lexus, and although I've only had my GS for a week, the customer service at Infiniti was terrible. After 3K miles on my 05 G35x the brakes started to squeek and never stopped until I finally traded up to the GS. Yes the GS suspension is softer, but I expected that from a Luxury sport ride. I haven't test drove the 07 G35 yet, but if Infiniti doesn't get their act together on customer service, I'd never go back to them. It was just too much money for nothing but denial and an attitude of "don't care".
