any Transmission flush guides?
Hey i plan on doing a transmission flush and was wondering if there were any guides on here. I have an 06 gs300. I checked the FAQ thread and i thought it was a bit weird that transmission flush wasnt on the long list of DIY's so am i missing something? i only plan on doing a drain and fill and not the actual filter replacement.

I would avoid doing a flush, or putting any solvents into the transmission with chemicals and machines. Just not needed, and can be bad especially for higher mileage cars.
What many will do is a drain and fill, simply drain the 2-4qt's fluid, measure it and refill that exact amount. Do this for 2 to 3 times while driving about 2-5k miles in between each fluid change. After you do the drain and fills, then you can drop the pan and replace the filter and clean the magnets inside.

Also after you put the new fluid in, take it easy on the first drive. Drive really slowly so that the fluid mixes throught out the transmission. Do this for a block or two!
You do hear horror stories of guys doing transmission flushes on good transmission only for the transmission to start slipping right after. Toyota are not as bad, but many transmission shops will suggest the you not do it to higher mileage unless you have an issue.

Hey bro, make sure you know the right torque amount of the transmission fluid pan's bolt. When I did mine, I effortlessly stripped the thread where now my transmission pan's bolt spins freely, but thankfully not dripping.

Thank you for the advice bro. I'm gonna be very cautious when i deal with the filter pan bolts because i dont believe theyve been touched ever since my wife bought the car (maybe even before, if ever). I didnt even take the torque amount into consideration. This will save me alot of headaches.
While i have you guys here! is it worth it to change out the swaybar bushings even if the car doesnt seem to have any issues? I dont have any history on the car. Ive looked at them earlier today and they all seem intact. Theyre dry looking but i didnt see any cracks or anything.

Especially an older MA car.

What are the back bushings called? I was able to find the front bushings at advanced auto parts but the back ones don’t look the same. The fronts show up as “moog stabilizing sway bar bushings front set”.
