Default GS430 vs GS350

Whats the deal? Lexus has not introduced its 4.6L engine yet, but have release the 3.5L in the GS. So this is what we have: The GS430 with 290 hp and the GS350 with 303 hp. Something just doesnt seem right here. Not sure which one is the better performer either.

I believe the 430 has a much different torque curve than the 350 (if i'm correct, the 430's is pretty much flat...)...but if you really want the v8, and can wait, the 460 will soon be it. or maybe they'll cram something for the new tundra under there, which has a lot of equines under the hood.

??? as mentioned a lot of times before already, that's why

1) the gs430 is only special order now, they are not even promoting the car
2) they have the gs450h, which is here to take place of the gs430 for the time being

Default Ironically the GS430 can be special ordered with the

active stabilizer suspension of the GS450h which is amazing. The GS430 has VDIM and the GS350 does not. The GS350 is available with AWD and the GS430 is not. The GS430 is standard with VGRS which is not available on the GS350 and the AVS suspension on the GS430 is standard. The GS430 is about $10,000 more with those items including 5 spoke 18" OEM wheels.

The GS450h outperforms the GS430 by a lot, costs the same and gets better mileage so that is the real reason the GS430 is lame duck....It even gives you a Tax Credit.

GS350 rwd is also a special order in the northeast................Personally I feel Lexus is not doing the right thing with the GS lineup and the way they allocate cars in general.

very true, that's why they need the gs460, otherwise it doesn't make any sense.

special order or just they don't have enough cars. that's very different. i don't see any resaon why it would be special order, are you telling me they only sell gs450h on a daily basis?

I really don't understand what they are doing with the GS line up. I can understand Lexus not having the 4.6 in the GS yet because it would take away some sales from the LS.

Another thing, the 3.5 is more powerful and fuel efficient than the GS430 and I believe are about the same with 0-60 times.

I really don't understand what they are doing and why the even bother having the 430 around. This kind of reminds me when Toyota was selling the ES330 and Toyota Camry with the 3.3 but also offering the more expensive Toyota Avalon with the 3.0.

What they should do is make the AWD on available on the 430.

Some things don't make sense when it comes to Toyota.

I think they just don't have enough yet. My dealer told me they sent virtually all of the AWD's from the initial allocation to the East and Midwest, while most of the RWD's were staying in California and the West. I couldn't have gotten an AWD right away if I had wanted one. "Special order" just means "Wait until the next ship comes in."

I agree, Lexus didn't do a great job with the 3rd gen GS launch. Don't get me wrong, I like my GS, but it just seems the 3rd gen was rushed into the market.

Although I knew the 300 / 430 replacements would be forthcoming (that's why I leased my 430), it still doesn't make much sense to have an engine change so early in the 3rd gen GS model life. Also, not having the 5th gen nav ready for the '06 GS, but ready for the new IS a relatively short time later?

The 350AWD is available but 350RWD is not in the northeast. If u want RWD, then u have to special order it and wait 3-4MONTHS.

well i don't know about others, but to me it's more then clear that the GS was a rush job from lexus. my guess is they slipped schedule on the ML and nav setup, that's why the one on the 3gs in the beginning was kinda half way only.

engine i couldn't think of why neither. but then i know they HAD to launch the 460 with the LS, there was no way we saw the new engine on GS first.

and with their tight schedule (4 new sedans in 3 yrs), they couldn't afford to slip the whole thing. probably why the GS came out the way it did?
