Default 10K Service Options?

I am a little past my 10K mile service and need some advice.

Should I take my gs430 to the dealer for the service? The dealership in Sacramento wants $220 for it, they change oil, rotate tires, etc. I found one dealer in fremont that charges $150 for the same.

or

Is going to the dealer a ripoff? should I take my car to another place instead? If so what would be the best place in sacramento or maybe even the bay area to take my car?

Thanks

I know Lexus Dealers charge a lot, but rotating the tires and changing the oil is not $220, or even $150. You could spend $40-$50 anywhere else. Just get the tires rotated at Sears, maybe even the oil changed there or jiffy lube. Just keep the reciepts, because those will show that you kept you maintanance up to date in case anything was to happen.

If you still want a dealer to service your GS, try taking it to a Toyota dealership. That's what I did when I changed the oil at 8500 miles. I had to wait only about 45 minutes for them to change the oil and filter. Their service department was great and very courteous, and it cost about $30 instead of $60. This Toyota dealer is right across the street from my Lexus dealer.

Our 10k service at Lexus included:

Labor........................$24.72
Parts (Filter)...............$7.00
Oil..............................$10.90
Oil Disposal...............$1.30
Replace Wipers......$14.10 (this was extra - not part of 10k)
Shop Supplies...........$1.98
TOTAL........................$60.00 (oddly round number?)

I didn't have them rotate tires as we installed Blizzak's a couple of months ago for winter.

One of things that has contributed to my success with my Lexus cars is to not skimp on service. My Lexus dealer does every service for me and I always take their advise. To date I have never had a breakdown or any serious mechanical problem since my first Lexus in 1992.

Default I went to my local Toyota Dealership..cost $29.00..

for the oil change. Didn't need to rotate the tires, since I put snows on it.

Only thing was the dealership didn't know how to shut off the service light, which I was able to do myself by searching and using this forum.
