Default Blue smoke during cold-start

Wife started he GS430 this morning and blue smoke came out of the exhaust for a few sec. I know blue is oil but WTF is going on? Any ideas? Hate to take this back to the dealer for a run around or find out the valve guides are leaking.

Signed!

wow, that sounds not good. did you smell oil burning? did you break it in easy?

I'd stand behind it tomorrow and have wife start it cold and see if it does it again. warranty would cover, but still......

good luck.

Common during start on vehicles due to oil will seep through cylinder walls and rings. Upon startup will be burned up in the chamber. You should worry if it's a consistent blue smoke coming from you tail pipe, while driving and/or at rest. Meaning there is a consistent buring oil in the engine.
Hence, check ur dipstick to ensure that oil is within limits. General formula is 1/2-1qt per 5,000 miles is not unheard of, or a cause for concern. 1qt per 1000 mile of 1 month maybe indicative of engine problem.
Hell, take it in and get it checked out anyway.

it could also mean coolant leaking into your cylinder walls. either way, blue/white smoke comming out of your tail is bad. something is def. wrong.

I'm a Diesel Engineer so I know the importance of the break-in period, so yes I broke her in like a baby. I called my local Lexus dealer and he said its normal yea ok I said.

I had the wife start the car this morning and did not notice any smoke at all. I will keep an eye open everytime I start the car, if it continues I'm buying a Bimmer........ naw just kidding.
