Wheel offset ?
it's not exactly for 3gs, but from what i read it's pretty close. read my guide in the tirerack tire/wheel forum. i have it for the 2gs but like i said the 3gs seems to be pretty similar
I went with a 2g offset and it's cool but still slightly rubs with people in the back seat. With that being said I'm getting a new set of Asanti's but have been able to locate a exact offset.... and at 1k a wheel i dont want to make mistakes.
If you are not going to do a staggered fitment then 20x8.5 +38 to +45 will work best with 245/35/20's all the way around. Otherwise, I would say 20x8.5 +38 front and 20x0.5 +45 rear with 245/35/20 and 275/30/20 tires. You could actually fit a 20x9 up front and an 20x11 in the back with 255/30/20 and 275/30/20 (not 285, too tall) if you weren't planning on the drop. I have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, but think that they are overpriced and overrated. I actually prefer the Toyo T1-S's (I have them on my G35 Coupe) but they are being replaced by the T1-R's (I'm sure they will be just as good, if not better).

and 275 on 10.5? isn't that too stretch?

i know it technically shoudn't matter, but i was told by TODA that u should check the fitments for each specific rim, don't just assume that a standard offset will work... that being said, he recommended anywhere from +40-45 would be good for the GS (this is for work wheels)...
of course, wheel people will always be conservative in the figures they give u, they don't want customers complaining about rubbing... also, many manufacturers have standard offsets they use. i know that HRE does and can make almost any offset you ask for. i considered going 20x9 and 20x10.5 HREs, but they were to expensive for me...
even on the 10.5, you would go 275/30, i think 285 would be too tall... i am going with 245/35 and 275/30s on my 20x8.5 and 20x10 setup
a local shop uses that set up for a lot of their cars...

well imho there is no "too tall", especially the 245/35 and 275/30 are already quite overspec by several %. comparing the 275 and the 285 is just a tiny difference
and if you do the calculation, the 285 is actually a perfect match with 245 in terms of side wall height. so if you say 285 is "too tall" then 245 is too tall too
that's why some people they went to 235 and 275 combo
but to me, if you are going to go overspec, don't worry about that little. if you can get 285 to fit no problem then go ahead and do it. just be careful on the rubbing since the tire is 10mm wider.
granted though, i also have 245 and 275 on my gs4 with 8.5 and 10. if i go with 285 in the back, which is totally possible, i would need to shave a bit of my fender lip
