Default Tire question...

Got my new GS300 MSRP 50,409 fully loaded for 46,000 on the dot. Mercury metallic with black interior. The lowest price I've seen so far so I jumped on it 7/8/05. Stock tires are dunlop 225/50/17's My question is for all of the tire experts out there...Which tire is most compatible for a replacement 225/40/18's or 225/45/18's to ensure optimal fit and performance?
Thanks for all your help

interesting that you got dunlop...i got Yoko Advan

and from my experience w/ going plus sizes depending on width...like 18x8 you would want to go 235/45/18 since you're at a 225/50/17 so far.

I have a sc400 that I put 18 X 7.5 OEM chrome rims on that originally was meant for the ls sedans.....the widest fit for the 7.5" is the 225 I believe...so I have the 225/40/18's on my sc400 looks very nice....but i would rather put them on the 2006 gs300!!!

my rims are 18x8.5 and i have 245/40/18's on them. i also had some rims that were 18x7.5 and i had 245/40/18's on them. no problems at all. keep in mind i have a 1 inch drop on my car too.
