Default My New '06 GS430

Well, after being on the fence for a couple months, I finally pulled the trigger this weekend on a new GS430. Picked up the car yesterday, which happened to be my birthday

I traded in my '99 GS300 which I've owned since December '98. The GS300 had almost 100k miles, but had treated me very well over the years. But after a couple days in my GS430, I can say I don't miss my GS300 at all. I'll admit I wasn't too impressed about the new GS when I first saw pictures of it. However, seeing the car in person changed my mind. After having a silver car for the past 6 years, I decided it was time for a change and went for the black/black combo.

I test drove the M45 extensively and thought it was a great car. But I just couldn't get over the interior layout, namely the huge center console and the orange backlighting. I just felt the GS interior was more elegant. Power wise, the GS430 has plenty for me. Might be a few tenths of a second slower than the competition, but not really a huge difference. The exhaust note is great on the GS430. I had the L-Tuned exhaust on my GS300 and there is no comparison. The GS430 exhaust sounds so sweet.

By the way, I had a great sales experience with Longo Lexus. A definite two thumbs up!

Here are some pics.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, it's been a long while since I've posted on the board.

The biggest change for me is getting used to the difference in power between the 430 and my old 300... my Valentine-1 is always going to have to be on! And I've got the new car purchase paranoia. I've gone back to my old routine of parking as far away from others as humanly possible (namely big SUVs). I also have to get over the fear of letting valets park my car...pretty much unavoidable in LA. Guess I just need to get my first scratch or ding so I can move on with my life

And then there is the issue of keeping a black car clean. Any suggestions? I've been spoiled by having a silver car, but now I'll have to work extra hard to keep the GS clean and swirl free.

Funny that since i own a BLACK 2GS, I wanted to get a SILVER 3GS because of the maintenance.

Great choice!

Congratulations! Black is truly beautiful, especially on the GS. It's too dusty in Nevada otherwise I would have went for black.

Anyway, good luck w/ your new ride! I hope it treats you well. Do you have any mods planned?

Thanks Sick, I think it was your constant praise of the new GS that steered me away from the M45 Can't wait until you pick up a new GS to replace your deceased GS400!

Yeah, I guess black would be tough to maintain in Nevada. White was definitely the right choice for you!

Mods? Hmm, right now nothing except getting the windows tinted. Of course I said the same thing when I first got my '99 GS, and ended up purchasing the l-tuned kit (body kit, exhaust, suspension) sportdesign lip spoiler and Work Euroline wheels. I'll probably wait until the end of the year and see if any nice body kits become available.

Wow, 2 GS's? That's sweet. Is the 2nd Gen your daily driver?
