Default Mileage!

On just my second tank of gas my mileage averaged 30.2 mpg. Granted this is mostly, but not ALL freeway driving. That is amazing.

Default Good point

Good point...I am driving what would be the most fuel efficient of the group, 2006 GS 300 RWD. The tank was probably more than 80% plus freeway driving, most of that in the low 70s with a few spurts much higher. A/C was on just about the whole time.

That's real good, mine is a 300 AWD, after 3K miles I'm getting 23.5 mpg. Mostly city driving.

Finally picked up my GS300 AWD late last week! I hope to take a few pictures today and post. But I wanted to say the highest average mpg so far for my GS is 27.9. This was obtained by mostly freeway driving at speeds from 63-68mph after about 150 miles. A/C was on most of the time. I'm still on my first tank of gas. I'm very pleased with this car's fuel economy.

I'm very pleased with my GS300 RWD. I have had some very impressive mileage results:

Round-trip from Atlanta to Orlando Florida: approx 970 miles. 32.2 mpg. This is with 2 people in the car and a trunk full of luggage. A/C on averaging 78mph. I used to have to stop for gas - now I make it to Orlando on 1 tank.

My best run was a combined rural road + highway trip from Peachtree City to Suwanee GA at 34.1mpg. It was a 65 mile trip and I averaged 60mph with the traffic. I planned to take a picture of the screen and put it up here but I never got around to it.

Sub 7s 0-60 and 30+ mpg while cruising in luxury!

I hope that Lexus doesn't replace the GS300 with the GS350 for just this reason. (I hope that both models are offered).

Default 300 engine

Why would Lexus so quickly get rid of a brand new engine made just for the GS 300? Was it ever used in any other model? Are there plans to use it in any other model?

It's beginning to look like this efficient engine is proving to be a very good alternative to more horsepower and less fuel economy. Maybe Lexus need to market this as one of the GS300's benefits. Although I suppose this could cut into their hybrid strategy.

23 for city driving??? W W. That is really good considering 17 with the 2nd GS and that's just not mashing the pedal
30 for freeway is too impressive.
I must've been when you guys were talking about the gas mileage.

Hmm.. You are making me jealous! My GS300 RWD does almost all city driving and according to the built-in computer (haven't verified it's calculation is good yet) is getting between 14.5MPG to 20MPG (20 was with some mixed freeway driving) with the average being closer to 15MPG.

Perhaps I've got a heavy foot? So far I've got around 1500 miles on the car.. Am I the only one getting that milage? Are you all using the built-in computer to determine MPG or something more old-fashioned?

When I buy gas I always fill up. I record the cost and number of gallons on my pc. So the 23.5 mpg is an average from the time I took delivery with 31 mile on the odometer until my last fill up at 3,068 miles.

I did say mostly city driving but it's probably half and half between city and freeway.

Thumbs up

I also am very impressed with the 3rd gen gas mileage. I had a loaner with only 50miles for a couple days and got close to about 350 highway miles on a full tank. That is very impressive!!

GS300 RWD: i'm a total leadfoot, all in-town stop-n-go driver...and still averaging 21+ on every single tank. i bet if i actually slowed down and quit the stoplight sprints and the exit ramp runs, i could squeeze that mileage up a bit. but heck, gotta have fun somewhere...love the new GS!

my '01 GS300 was averaging 18.

my '05 RX330 AWD was averaging 14, same territory and leadfoot habit. <==ouch!

p.s. Sam's premium gas is 10 cents cheaper than other brands here in NC. Costco too.

Ok.. I'll try the old fashioned method.. I always do put in a full tank of premium over at my local Costco and will check my receipts tonight if I get a chance..
