Default ticking noise at idle

rI have a new 06 gs 300 awd with an annoying tick from the engine at idle, what is the problem. you guys were right about the noise. It`s from the pump and the injectors.I also listened to 2 others they had in stock and they sounded the same. This is my second gs 300. I traded my 01for the 06 WOW what a car.

I'd have your dealer take a look at it just to be safe..

Direct injection high-pressure fuel pump. This sound is normal.

Normal if you mean they all make it. Still, it is annoying nonetheless. It can also be heard inside while driving. Not very Lexus like at all...

I must be deaf because I don't really hear any sounds unless I've got my door open, have the hood up or have my window down and no radio going, even then it's way quieter than any car I've had before (non-lexus of course)

There have been several threads about this topic already. It is from the high-pressure fuel pump. A lot of owners are aware of this ticking noise.

Well it HAS to make that noise and all Lexus will sound like this eventually as this is the engine of the future. If someone asks, tell them what we said it was. The engine is highly advanced, much more than most other engines.

I really doubt it. If that many people who are on this board complain about imagine how many are at the dealers with the same issue. Im sure Lexus HQ is taking note of it and will insulate the pump on future models. They might even issus a TSB and have come up with a box to enclose it in.

The noise is not coming from the fuel pump. The ticking is coming from the injectors. Not much more you can do to insulate.

Techs have heard ticking noise, and did not expect this of a Lexus. He thinks lexus
will come up with quieter pump or a way to insulate the noise.

The pump itself is acctualy not noisy. As Will said it is the injectors opening and closing with High pressure behind them. Under the hood of any other fuel injected car the same ticking can be heard just it is not as loud because of the lower pressure behind the injectors.

You should definitely see an ENT about your issue.

I just bought my 07 GS350 with 45k mileage a month ago and have to say besides the loud idle, noisy transmission and dash creeks, I like it. Wait, I forgot the wobbly rear view mirror. I just got rid of my 05 Acura TL with 92k and it ran a lot smoother. Miss my acura, oh well.
