Default DVD Navigation System Value

What do you think of the DVD NAV system in the 2006 GS? I've never owned or even used a NAV system so I'm wondering what people think of it. Is it worth almost $2800? I think the backup camera is a cool idea, but I'm not sure if I'm going to find value in the NAV system.

Thanks.

depends on where you live...i live in LA and it's priceless...i don't think i can ever own another car w/out nav. some examples...

-hit traffic on the way to work, just exit and have the nav guide me.
-was sick one night and needed to fill a prescription....knew the address of a 24 hr pharmacy that was 15 min away, got in the car typed in the address and left
-looking for a restaurant to eat at on a friday night
-don't forget the wow factor also!

NAVI is amazing, and definitely worth it---if you live in an area that requires it or take trips. Plus the Lexus NAVI system is the best out there.

My family went on a trip to Carmel shortly after we got our Lexus...we used NAVI the whole way. On the second night we checked into a seaside hotel located on a seaside mountainous area. We arrived after a day of sightseeing at 7 PM, by then it was pitch dark and in winding roads through forest...without the NAVI we would never have found the hotel. We simply let the car guide us to our destination, and it brought us exactly up the steeply inclined side path, past other inns and restaurants, and straight to the lobby entrance. Amazing.

The NAV in the GS is incredible. It is my first car with NAV and I can't imagine buying another car without it. I travel for a living and in the past would use my Mapping software to printout maps to my destination. Now I just enter the address, phone number or GPS Coords and off I go. No more guesswork or worry about missing a turn. The peace of mind alone is worth the price to me.

i completely agree with everyone above. my first lexus was non-nav; all the others had nav from then on, once you get used to it it's hard to live without! i've looked up lots of phone numbers for restaurants and other POIs and that alone saves you $ right there by not having to call 411 on your cell phone for $1.xx - $2.xx per call

it is also great for any long trip; really reduces the "are we there yet?" factor by seeing the mileage left to go. i think i'd go insane without it.

I agree with ya'll. Don't leave home without a nav car. I'm serious. When you got nav, you got hooked. Traffic around Atl is bad and when I stuck in traffic( major accident on the hwy) I used nav and find me the local road or " Get me out of this hwy"
